But what do I call my friend Geoff? Or what if I need to order a gin and tonic? Or if I want to poach pet the girraffes?

Unless his name is an acronym, you would continue to call him Geoff.

I love it when people come back with “oh if the guy that invented it pronounces it this way”.
NO. That is NOT how the world works.
Valve can’t suddenly say “Oh yeah, the Source engine? That’s actually pronounced GabeN’s fuzzy underpants ”

Well.. The name gin is derived from the dutch word jenever(bes) (and perhaps the french word genièvre) both of which mean “juniper”, so I’d say you should pronounce it like you’ve always done..
Edit: as for the animals with the long neck I propose we alter the spelling.. Djeeraaf. :)

“
GabeN’s fuzzy underpants
” would be a much better name though.

Those aren’t underpants. They’re just GabeN’s fuzzy underparts.

Were we not arguing over the pronunciation of words that start with G?
Well fuck it! This is the internet so if we weren’t before we are now.

I have gotten into this very argument numerous times since the "JIF" thing came out. THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS!
