Temps are forecasted to be in the mid-upper 80s for Oshkosh this week and I hate heat so I ordered one on Amazon for $9.
Reviews look very favorable and the science (evaporative cooling) is proven. Any opinions?

I have a different brand but they work.

Disclaimer: I have only used mine inside my house, with the AC on, and the ceiling fan runn i ng.
I like mine, I have the Mission towel I bought it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for roughly $12. I use it either like a hood, or around my neck. Using it tied on like a hood it actually gets too cold and gives me a headache. So I have to move it around a few different ways.

Get something like this too...
You may feel retarded wearing it but damn does it save your head and neck. I think mine provides equivalent SPF 45 protection.

Oh I know, it's been that way here this last week-90s with 70+% humidity, but I've been able to be inside. In Oshkosh I'll be outside all day with little shade and camping at night so I'm just looking for ways to stay as cool as possible.

Oh I will. I usually take 200-400 pics and this year there will be a bunch of special things there (B-52, F-35, F-100, PB4Y, Ford GT and GT-350).
I’ll be posting a big photo dump.

I considered an evap cooling machine for my room, but then I realized that I live in florida. I think the state keeps the humidity super high just to fuck with everyone.
“Oh, you wanna save some money on your electric bill? Well tough shit motherfuckers, here’s that 98% humidity you didn’t ask for. Have fun with that extra $300 you have to spend every month for the next six months MUAHAHAHAHAHA” -Florida.

I was just checking out the B-52 earlier and it’s impressive.

80s? 80s??
It’s been in the 90s here for weeks and it’s going to stay there for a while. Probably going to pass 100 a few times, too.
In other words, I’m fuckin jealous.

Yeah. Drink lots of water. I spend most of my days outside for work and go through about a gallon a day. With it in the 80s you shouldn't need that much but it's better to drink more and pee a lot than get a dehydration headache.

No different than a regular towel. You can use the same microfiber towels you already have for your car. A barely damp tshirt will also have you shivering even if it's 100 out.

Yeah, it's been on my bucket list for a while. I'm pretty excited to check it off.

Pro tip: if you can keep your hands cool it will help keep the rest of you cool as well.

Yeah, it gets up to the 90s-100 here around this time of year, so it’s not really that hot by usual standards. It’s just that I’ll be waking around in the sun with a backpack and bag chair all day.

I found that PVA towels are great for camping. I kept mine on my head or around my neck for most of the week when we went to Scout camp a few weeks ago. I even used it for drying off after showering - I just washed the towel before I showered and wrung it (mostly) dry, then it was ready to go.
The only thing you have to watch for is letting it get too dry. It will become brittle and break if you try to bend it when dry.
If you don’t want it on your head or neck, wrap it around your forearm and wrist. It really does help cool you down. I also wear a large hat and a long-sleeved poly shirt if I’m going to be in the sun. It helps me stay cool and prevents sunburn.
