Check out the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from Wittman Regional (KOSH) as they handle the influx of thousands of aircraft for EAA AirVenture next week.

It’s quite entertaining.

You can also view !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from around the grounds.

I really want to make it to this Air Show at some point. One of the best in the world, right? For now I’ll have to settle for the Blue Angels in Baltimore two years ago.

Definitely. It's not quite the same as many others. The focus is much more on experimental and home-built aviation, but there are tons of great aircraft and way too many things to see in one trip. This year will be my 18th trip and there will always be something new to see.

I’ve been touring DC all day, watching the landings at DCA. This would be a great place to spot, but I can’t really drag my family out there to kill a couple hours while on vacation.

Have fun up there. I anxiously await your reports.

My wife and I are planning a little weekend trip to Chicago next year sometime and one of the things she is most excited about is spending a few hours spotting at O’Hare. Needless to say I am thrilled about that.

One of the great things about Planelopnik is that it's conditioned me to be super observant of things that I see so I can document them and reference them later.

When I was younger, my parents divorced, and my mom lived in Chicago. I would fly to see her once a year, usually with my brother, and those unaccompanied flights through O’Hare are what fueled my passion for flying and airplanes. I found airports to be fascinating, exciting places, and I loved the trips. On the way home to VA, we would stop in the Seven Continents Lounge at O’Hare, a great place to drink and watch planes. I don’t know if it’s still there, but soon after my wife and I were married (25 years ago) we took a trip to Chicago and spent an evening at the airport, having a drink in the Seven Continents. On one memorable trip in my youth, my brother an I were flying on a 727, and the captain invited us into the cockpit and even let us power up the engines for push back. Yeah, I got to move the throttle levers. That’s something that will never happen again these days. So yeah, I’ve got lots of very fond memories of O’Hare, and I’m jealous of your trip. Have fun!

We’ll have to check it out and see if it's still there.
