Here’s a friction drive for your time
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . A hand operated CVT.
The question I have is my car hit 40k miles. Going through the owners manual it says that the transmission fluid should be changed at 46k for hard duty, 97k for regular. Reading comments online some articles say its fine to wait till the end, others say that those guides are optimistic at best so they don’t turn off customers and should still change earlier.
I checked and it is still pinkish.
Any input oppo?

The correct answer is.... You shouldn’t have to change ATF, You need a manual. Jk, change it now, just to be safe is what I would do, but I’m no mechanic, so don’t take my advice for granted.

I think there is a smell test as well. Seriously.
Also, make sure your shop does a fluid change, with a pan drop, not a flush. Flushes can force bad stuff into places it shouldn't be.

Do it at 20-40K. Cheap insurance. Jcarr is right. It costs me a hundred to have the pan dropped, a new filter and a look at the magnet in the pan. That reverse flush stuff is questionable.

Personally I do every 40k, doesn’t matter on what. I’ll keep doing it that way until a few services costs more than a transmission. Even at my cost I’ve got a long way to go.
