An NYC Taxi with 2,000 miles on it that was never put in service. Could they just have forgotten about it somewhere?
According to the Carfax, it started it’s life at City World Ford in the Bronx, sat around for five months, then became a “corporate fleet vehicle,” then was registered in Arizona and two months later was serviced at a Ford dealer in Farmington Michigan and then ended up at an auction in Illinois.
The strange part is that the car had 33 miles on it when it was registered in Arizona and that the majority of the 2,106 miles probably occurred travelling to Michigan where only 50 were put on it.

Kept as a benchmark for rebuilds?

But it’s an extended LWB model that was pretty much only used in NYC?

One word: Sandy

No flood damage/title though.

Flood damage possibly? I remember seeing news that some of the last fleet Crown Vics for taxi use were destroyed in that hurricane that hit the northeast

But there’s no title issues and the interior of the car looks spotless.
Plus I don’t think Bronx Ford was hit by any flooding, but I’m not too sure. They might have presumed it was damaged and left it sitting or something.

not sure why, but that seriously intrigues me. something about a fresh version of a car that was built exclusively to be driven forever really appeals to me.

You nailed it with that!
It’s just so strange, yet intriguing!

None that wouldn’t buff right out.

Plot twist: Thats just the trip meter and the dealer is an idiot.

But it's just so damn clean!

It was sold and transferred to Arizona a year before Sandy though...

Which came from New York, haha.

I’m pretty sure our cabbies got them new and not second hand from NYC...

I’ve heard that Chicago, Philly, Atlanta and DC are popular destinations for the old New York cabs. I don’t think any other large cities bought them.

Actually, the city of Chicago requires all cabs be purchased new when they’re put into service.

whatever the story, i’d love to see someone buy this thing, take all the taxi gear out, paint it black, put some 2014 mustang GT rims on it, and do some engine work.
building up a cool 4-door old school muscle car yo!
