Has anyone ever tried to rent garage space before? my apartment doesn’t have a garage but I want to work on my car. Craigslist seems dry, and my local self storage place doesn’t seem keen on letting my old Ford leak all over the place. What should I do?

Only one local self storage place? They’re usually the places to go.

I rent a 34’ x 20’ shop for $200/mo. What would you like to know?

Does it have a lift?

Seems like a business opportunity... Oppo should incorporate and create our version of Air BnB

If it was 24 hours and had a bathroom that sounds like decent living quarters haha

Well the big question is: Are you using the spot for storage or do you plan to actually wrench on the thing in that location? Most apartment buildings rent out empty spaces in their garages but don’t allow you to work an a car on their property. I story my Chrysler for winter there and it costs me $50/month

Yeah, you should be able to find one that does not care so long as you leave it as you found it. I currently rent a half size unit for my motorcycle. I just drop a couple tarps on the floor when I am working on something that could potentially get messy (remember to roll up the edges to prevent large amounts of spilled liquids from escaping. I’ve never had a problem, but I use two-by-fours around the perimeter and under the tarp, just in case.)

It is 24 hours, no bathroom though.

No. 8 foot side walls with open rafters means I use ramps.

i'd like to wrench on it there too. i.e. leave it on jackstands for some time while I work on it.

Yeah most commercial places won’t go for that. They say it’s a fire hazard and neighbors won’t like the noise bla bla bla. Sorry I can’t be more helpful but craigslist is your best bet.

In my experience places that allow boat/rv storage don’t care what you do. A lot of these have gravel or dirt floors though.

A town of 600 in south-central Wisconsin. The owner had it up on Craigslist, plus I knew the owner.
