A 72 Chevy Monte Carlo! Really strong 350 small block, with power discs in the front and power steering. I am beyond excited.

Radical. GM’s big luxo-muscle mid-sizers like the Monte Carlo, Grand Prix SJ, and the Cutlass Supreme are some of my favorite cars from that era.

Comfy, more spacious, and not to mention they come with a hell of a lot more standard equipment than other cars from back then.

Especially those Cutlass Supremes... Though they were still smaller than the MC and GP.

I’ve kind of been growing a soft spot for Monte Carlo’s this vintage, in particular because of my granddad. My dad told me the first car my Grandfather ever bought brand new was a 1975 Monte Carlo, his never had power windows because he said “it’s just one more thing to go wrong”. I always thought these cars where similar to the Impala, in that it was a big move for Chevy and it paid off in the long run, getting a reasonably stylish car with Cadillac options at non-Cadillac prices was really a very smart move. I kind of wish we got more of those kind of cars in a lot of ways.

Skylarks had sideskirts too.

The monte carlo pulls it off better because it’s longer, it looks funny on the shorter wheel base Skylark with the sweepspear.

They’re about an inch or two longer than a regular Cutlass S or F85. Not really noticeable when they are parked side by side unless you measure it.

However, It’s noticeable in my cramped garage. They Supreme nearly touches wall to wall while the Cutlass S I used for parts doesn’t.
