Whereas France is filled with Citroens and Peugeots, Spain is filled with a lot of FCA, Skôda, and Nissans. And less blandness.

I'm military and I just got stationed in southern Spain a couple weeks ago. All I see is Peugeot's, Seat's, a few Skoda's here and there and some VW's. Of course you have the handful of American cars that are brought over with us military (like my Explorer that needs to get here a lot sooner than later) but for the most part, it's a bunch of diesel hatchbacks. And I like that. A lot. So much in fact that when I finally get my internet working in my house, I'm going to do a write-up on the three rental cars I've had while here (spoiler: I'm fully in love with the Seat Leon TDi and depressed that I can't have one in the states).

I feel you. I’ve been seeing so many Seat Octavia Wagons and the Alfa Romeo Guiletta in France I want them both badly. i hope you enjoy Spain!

If you happen to walk around Marbella/Malaga area. You may see a British registered white Skoda Superb estate.

I've seen a couple Alfa's as well. The want is strong with all of these hatchbacks!

Nice! I assume that's yours? It's nice to finally be out near some Oppo's. I just spent the last three years as the sole Oppo in Alaska.

I’m afraid not. The owner is back in the U.K. for a week or two to get the car inspected (it’s a plated taxi where I live, the owner is a taxi/truck driver) and spends much of his time down there chilling out smoking cigarillos, drinking brandy and using a VPN to bet/gamble in the U.K.

Mines the silver, his the white.

Damn those are some sexy wagons! Why, America, can we not have the sexiness? We have some, why not all?!?

True. They are beautiful.

Mines going next April, going to order her replacement in December.

I missed out by two months on the Mk2 facelift.

Kinja'd!!!

But looking forward to ordering and receiving the Mk3.

I personally love the Octavias that have the executive look. Very classy and sporty.

Not a whole lot of difference, but I gotta say, the Mk3 looks pretty damn good!

I like the Octy but I’ve come to love the size, feel and comfort of the Superb.

Damn. Now if only I can find someone selling a reasonably priced Seat Leon, I'll be all over that!

The Seat Leon is a good car. Friend had one as a courtesy (1.4TSi) car while waiting for his VW Eos (1.9TDi) to be delivered.

Kinja'd!!!

He loved it and said that if he had driven it before deciding on the Eos he would of gone for the Leon.

Of all the cars I've driven in Spain so far, the Leon is by far my favorite. I flew into Madrid and drove a Peugeot Expert from Madrid to just outside of Sevilla and that wasn't bad. Then I had a Peugeot 208 and thought "hell, this is pretty nice". Then I got the diesel Leon and all my love was instantly transferred. It's awesome. Like I said, as soon as I get my internet hooked up, I'm going to do a write-up on all three. Mainly because I can't post pictures at work. Friggin' firewalls!

Actually the guy who owns the white Superb had another taxi till recently which was a Peugeot Eurobus (minibus version of the Peugeot Expert), drove quite well but only about half as fuel efficient as the Superb.

Do you not get free wifi at your McDonalds or local coffee shops where you can pop in for a coffee and fire off a write-up?

All the McD's and coffee shops around (as far as I know) have free wifi but I am currently confined to base because my car is still in transit behind me and my family. I am currently looking for a hatchback that I can fit two car seats in the back for 2K Euro or less at the moment though. Hard part is that I barely speak the language. Makes communicating...interesting...

Most areas near the coast anyway speak very good English and you'll probably find quite a lot of Brits (just don't try and out-fool or out-drink a northern Brit). Lol.

Ha ha yea. I’ve heard that southwestern Portugal is a holiday destination for Brits so they all speak a good deal of English down there. And I've definitely learned not to try to go drink to drink with a Brit. It did not end well for me.

Kinja'd!!! Svend > Osiris - I can haz Euro spec?

Lol. Most of the Portuguese and Spanish coast is young to middle aged holiday makers and ex-pats while further inland is retired ex-pats.

We Brits tend to party hard while away from home.

I've had my fair share of time on the Spanish islands drinking from sun-up to sun-up. Those days are behind me now but they were fun while they lasted.
