Washington DC has two airports. Reagan is much closer than Dulles.

Shanghai Pudong airport is very far out, but it has an awesome bullet train to get you into town at 250 mph

LCY? Depends what you count as the centre, I guess.

The figure for LHR is google maps being rubbish, I’m afraid. It’s either about 15 mins by car into Central London, if there’s no traffic, or it’s going to take you at least an hour.

JFK sucks, even before you factor in the sh!tfight that getting out of Manhattan is.

That said, back home in the outback, Sydney International might be efficient and easy but your average cab fare to the airport will be ~US$100.

For that price in Manhattan you can “get in the chopper” to JFK: http://www.gothamair.com/

You left out DCA - Washington National Airport in DC.

(The airport otherwise known as Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport but any real DC native refuses to use that asshole’s name while referring to the airport.)

5.2 miles, 13 mins by your Google Maps method.

You should use Haneda for Tokyo, it’s right in the city. I fly there instead of Narita.

i will attest that boston is the easiest when there is no traffic. that the airport itself doesn’t require walking a mile and a half to the gates also helps.

pre-9/11 security requirements, i could wake up 60 minutes before my scheduled departure time, get from my apartment in the back bay area to logan and be on the plane with time to spare.
