Don't worry, you can still buy a Cizeta V-16t.

Sold your original Star Wars collection? Just found some original stock certificates from Apple Computer in your boxes of unworn Air Jordans? Well, don’t worry. You can take all of that money and convert it into a brnd new freshly built Cizeta V-16t.

They still make it. All you need is $650,000 ($850,000 for the convertible) and you can roam Malibu winding your way through all of the mansions you purchased with your cashed out collection of vintage Kiss toys and rookie early 80’s baseball cards with sixteen cylinders based on two flat plane crank Maserati Bora V-8’s, but not made from them. (Well, that’s interesting here as it’s been described as sourced parts of two V-8’s, possibly from either Lambo Uracco/Maserati Bora/Ferrari V-8’s and their parts stuffed into a custom block with gears in the middle for the transmission output. Either way it’s 6 liters.)

Personally, if they are still making this to order when called, I would like to see a style refresh and perhaps a couple of turbos or four (eight? yeah eight.) to go with those headlights. Of course, this is assuming I have anything left after reliving the end of the 80’s doing coke off of a supermodel’s butt.

I did know this. I’d buy one if I had the money. Supercars like this (and V12 Lambos, etc) are all about excess, more than they are track machines. The Cizeta dials that up a few notches above everything else.

And, I learned reading about this car, that it was actually built as a handling machine to boot, not just an excessmobile. So, it was designed before the Diablo but built after, when the designer had enough of Lambo’s company crap. Kinda amazing. I want one too...

I think I’ve read that this was proposed as a design for the Diablo, but rejected.

It was really supposed to handle well? Gosh. I can’t imagine a V16 does wonders for a car’s handling.

it’s transverse, so sits sideways and it’s only 6 liters-520hp. All aluminum. It is 1700kg, so nearly 3800 pounds. Now, keep in mind it was designed to handle but also have full on leather and comfort at the same time so it’s no F40 or Diablo...it’s more livable. So in that way it’s not going to compete on their level but they can’t compete with the comfort and ease of living the v16t offers. Good news, since it’s starting to fit inside the 25 year rule, we can now begin to import them....of the 11 made so far. :)

I see. So it is a compromised car, but it’s not a complete mess. It sounds like an ideal mix, like a 300ZX but more-so.

I’m curious about the real production numbers. Wikipedia says they originally made 22 total, but also that it’s still in production and has been for almost 10 years. For this to work they must be building a number of cars - where do they end up? Why does no one talk about them? Top Gear, for example, never seemed to care.

Other sites ive seen talk of 11, and the sultan bought 3 of them. There’s a number of places that build amazing cars like this on a build to order basis. At over half a million each, they can build one out of their shed when you ask them too as the profit will be enough to pay someone an annual salary to make your engine or interior by hand. So, it re-entered ‘production’ but they don’t fire up the pizza oven until someone calls for the super special. There’s a few makers like that out there but i can’t think of any off hand.

I’d like to know of some that do this, the idea of resurrecting an under appreciated classic like this or the EB110 or something is too good! It does make sense, you can pay a lot of wages with $800,000.

It wasn’t resurrected, but, since it was hand built to begin with for limited production so they just put things away. Once an order comes in, they unpack everything and make a car. I don’t know long the lead time is but it seems like something not too difficult to do, from a hand built perspective anyway.
