For the record, I’m okay and everyone is fine. No injuries. Story is now public so I can share the public media links. No other comments on what happened or why from me on my end. I am NOT at fault and it was not in the building I worked in, but I work in the building next to it.
Post your favorite vintage can-am and trans-am series cars to cheer me up, cause we got the all clear to go back to work. My desk smells kinda funny but other than that, I guess we are back to normal....

Wow! Glad you’re ok and that no one was hurt. Have a Macca M8B.

You’re having a GREAT day, because you could have been, but didn’t, get oxidized.

Being a company that does translations for other companies, I’m pretty sure that nothing will blow up, other than a pissed off translator and those guys are freelancers who work from home so nobody cares. Have a little George Follmer Boss 302 action to help the day.

....well when the fumes seeped into my building and I had to run through a cloud to get to my car......I was a little oxidized. Nothing a shower won’t fix.

Brace yourself for the inevitable lawsuit and then the corporate HR shitstorm that will follow

“Get oxidized” sounds like it is the catch phrase of the worst super hero ever

Glad everybody was alright!

Good lord. Stay safe, that’s some scary stuff.

Also, you just brought up a slightly haunting fear I have...
I work for a gov’t contractor in Crystal City, we are 1.5 miles from the Pentagon, as the crow flies. If my work place blows up, it’s because DC got nuke’d. Being a former rad worker, this isn’t something I like to think about.

dude, don’t breath until tomorrow. Chemicals are no joke

Yikes, glad you’re ok. Wonder what happened?

Look on the bright side, at least you get the rest of the day off.

Chemical explosions are serious shit. Here is the man, with the car.

I’m back at my desk and finishing emails, what is this “day off”?

Then the main villain would be “the reducer”

I’m well aware of that....had enough close calls in my lab as is.

yep. Third time it happened in 18 months,......might be time to prepare the resume.....

Holy...crap! Glad no one was hurt.
Not exactly a can-am car, but cool:

Really? Wow. A building blows up and you still have to work. Don’t they think that people need to rest after coming close to death?
![]() 07/14/2015 at 15:59 |

Eh, it’s just a thing that happens. Obviously the building where the reaction happened is shut down. And it didn’t explode, but there was a nasty reaction and a LOT of hazardous fumes.

Close enough?

My first “real” job was about a quarter mile from a very secure but well-known military communications complex. If it helps, we took comfort in the belief that if the war started, we wouldn’t suffer.

In this era of zero job security, the professional male must never stop looking for employment, Sauce-a-teer.

I have a feeling I know where you’re talking about.
My line of thinking is that no one is going to nuke Crystal City directly, so my chances of a quick death are slim. Instead we’ll die an agonizing death from massive amounts of radiation poisoning. That’s my fear.

As Louie C. K. might say, “that would be a drag.”

Our efforts were just not as successful as we planned them to be
Wow. Quote of the year! Glad you are safe. Oxidizers are no joke!
