It’s a lightly used Nikon D3000 DSLR. Gotta love the local classifieds because I paid $120 for it! Now to just figure out how to use it. Then gotta find a spot and get some pics of my car!

$120 sounds like a really good price. Did it come with the owner’s manual? That might help with the buttons.

Which lens do you have there? Is that just the basic 18-55 or did you reaaaaally rip the guy off? :)

To be entirely honest I know nothing about these lenses so Im going to type exactly what the lens says:
Nikon DX
AF-S Nikkor 18-55MM 1:3.5-5.6G
So I think its the basic one like you said

Yeah, that’s the one. I found it to be a pretty good lens, actually, but also pretty limiting. One of the first things I did was go back and get a 55-200mm, those two cover me pretty well for now.

Cool, it’s a nice entry SLR. 2nd the 55-200 or 55-300. If you do any racing photos, you’ll find it invaluable to have a good telephoto. The Tamron lenses are not bad, I would suggest one to you when you decide to make the plunge.
