Got myself a new door handle!! :D

Went on a trip with Dwhite to find a VW tailgate, and a new door handle for my 944.

Unfortunately, we’ve yet to find a cheap tailgate. But we did find two nice 924 wrecks; one of which had a matching(everything but color) driver’s side door handle!

(Original and “new” door handles, top and bottom respectively)

Now I just have to swap the broken parts with the replacement parts and get the handle back on!!

There was also an original Porsche radio in one of the 924s that I'll have to go back for later.

Do Volkswagen door handles of the same vintage make acceptable spares for Porsches? I’ve always wondered that because they’re so similar.

None that I know of, but I did see an E36 and E21 in this yard I think. These were the only 924s in any junkyard in this area to my knowledge.

Actually, yes! The 1st gen Golf/Rabbit door handles are interchangeable with early 944 and 924 handles; however, the internal mechanics of the door handles operation are slightly different to my knowledge.
