GOD. DAMMIT.
Fucking rodents got into my car at some point, and chewed through something related to the AC, which no longer blows cold.
I should have sold this thing two days ago when I had the chance. First the hail, now this.

Pack rat nest. I forgot those may not be as common outside the southwest. They chew up anything they can find to build them. Most of it is just straw and bits of the insulation from the plastic cover, but there was some black stuff in there too. This happened to my truck before, and it cost about $1800 to fix.

Rodents love Fords wiring. Seems more so than the others. Seen tonnes of these on 2.3/2.5 Ford engines.

Whenever I see plastic intake runners, I remind myself of the hell I get put through when the usual intake cleaning comes around.
Curse you, direct injection!

I don’t like to do this. There’s consequences. And, there are times to do it (prolly too late now), to whit:
Don’t touch the car. Don’t drive it. Lower the hood gently, but don’t latch. I go down and buy every damn “kill ‘em in one bite” poison I can, then install. Then wait a few days. Then I clean.
Because revenge, and, erasing community memory - permanently. I’ll put up with the random stink (wherever it occurs for this.)

At least you found it before you tried to start it.
I discovered the rat’s nest under the hood of my truck when it caught fire.
I discovered the wasp’s nest in the door gap when the residents came out and stung me.
I discovered the leaky brakes when I popped the parking brake and nearly rolled into the neighbor’s yard.
I’ve learned that letting a vehicle sit for more than a week at a time isn’t good for it.

That’s the thing; this happened over night.
