Please be good please be good oh god please be good.
Press shots:
Uncamouflaged spy shots:
They haven’t been at their best for a good long while now, but if the new Peugeot Sport division’s previous two cars - the RCZ-R, and the 208 30th - are anything to go by, it’ll probably be pretty good. I hope. The specs - 267 HP, the Torsen LSD from the RCZ R, and a 6 second 0-62 - certainly aren’t anything to sniff at.
Oh, god, please be good.
EDIT: Changed some figures. Got the versions mixed up.

That much power and over 6 seconds to 100kph? Sounds like a lack of traction.

Yeah, considering the VW GTI can pull that off with less power, I’d imagine the acceleration numbers would have to be better than that.

It’s six seconds dead, as it turns out—I got the figures mixed up. I don’t think it’s too bad when you consider that it’s manual-only. I don’t think they’ve released the weight yet, but I doubt it’ll be too lardy—the 308’s already lighter than most of its rivals.

But da VW GTI does it in the same time with 40hp less

All the figures I’ve dug up on the current Golf GTI have it managing 0-62 in 6.5 seconds, 6.4 with the performance pack.

Huh. Car & Driver tested their manual at 5.8 seconds.

I’m just going off the official figures . Peugeot have certainly underrated their GTis in the past, so the real-world sprint could well be rather different.

I’d like to see them head-to-head soon.

There are few things I want more than for a modern, mainstream Peugeot hot hatch to actually win, outright, in a straight-up shoot-out with its rivals. Here’s hoping they send out press cars soon.
