mmm green screen AS400 system..

its amazing the longevity that system has had and shows no sign of slowing down. if it works, why change it I suppose.

Not mine :)

Don’t know how they survive, that’s probably the idea behind it tho

No chance of Oppoing on company time I guess :)

They are starting to move up, though I’m pretty sure the checkouts are mostly win98 or earlier. I’m starting to see Vista and Ubuntu—it’s like they expect to have to replace everything shortly and are experimenting a bit.

Yeah I have picked up working doing change overs for several box companies over the years. whats crazy is they are moving to more GUI based front ends but the back end still runs those AS400 systems. Ubuntu+AS400 back end = unbreakable system! and since those AS systems are often running on an IAX server in the back good luck hacking into them. Shit I can barely operate a AIX let alone hack one. haha it’s when they integrate into other systems for various reasons, like billing or marketing things get exposed (target looking at you here).

(Almost) Bingo.

Same thing, one of the ones in the middle of the store.

One of the many Canadian Tire systems. At least that’s what it looks like. I’m not that surprised that their EOM system is still on the AS/400.

It is. It works and employees can’t oppo on company time, what more do they want?

Possibly a more user friendly WMS. I should know: Canadian Tire is one of our customers (Gib toonies plox).

PkMS/WMOS works well (for some definition of the phrase), but then you get locked into the AS/400 (or irritating Windows CE based RF guns). At least it’s not homegrown or anything...

CT is your customer? What do they use at the main checkouts then? It looks win98 or earlier. I know they are starting to shift some things to Vista(!) now, and some to Ubuntu, but the main checkouts soldier on...

We mainly deal with the distribution side of things, less so the POS. The last upgrade to their WMS systems at the distribution centres seems to have been from around 2006 or so.

Still fits with the philsophy, though.
