I am no longer a FloridaMan. After 3 weeks without internet, I can now make the official post. First thoughts: Roads are bumpy, but curvy and hilly, so good! People are super friendly for the most part. It doesn’t smell like a middle school locker room(I used to live near a swamp.) Now to find a job so I can buy a new daily driver and make the SlowRunner less slow. On a few more notes: 1. I have found a Geo Metro graveyard, with possibly the best view in the county(If I am brave enough, there may be more on that at a later time). 2. My Dad got his utility trailer back on the road, so he no longer needs his truck, just something that can pull a trailer. He misses his Trailblazer, but wants more LS2. 3. So many cool old cars wasting away. 4. Found an early 50’s Napco Chevy.
I am in the Lexington area, so anybody near here, we need to have a meetup.
Random pics and pics of pics of family rides of the past taken in the past weeks.
This Impala was my Great Grandfather’s, then was left to my Grandmother. They sold it 10 years ago without a scratch and under 70k miles.
This Sierra was also sold a few years ago by them, with less than 50k miles.
Sleepy Doge.
My Uncle’s current project and planes, and a pic of my Pop with my Uncle’s first RV.
Also, I’ve never seen so many 4Runners and Land Cruisers in my life. I think I will enjoy it here.

You’ve escaped! Congratulations! I am so envious!
Also, your great granddad had style.

Now you’ll have to watch Florida burn. I might move to the SC coast after college, just a couple hundred miles southward. Taxes are lower but the beaches and climate are just as good as NC.

I’ve had enough of the coast lol, but whatever is good for you! Though I’ve never been to the S.C. coast to compare to N.C.’s. I’m sure it’s not as fucking cold in June.

The 90’s lol.
Here’s a less 90’s pic. Ignoring the Dodge Spirit.

From June 15-19, I was at Caswell beach with my church group, at the bottom of the NC coast. Cold? You could fry an egg on your own skin!

This was in 2005, but when we went to OBX the wind chill was in the 40’s at the beginning of June.

My family is in charleston right now.
Without me. :(

Congrats on getting out of Florida! haha how are you liking SC so far?
I’m seriously contemplating moving to the Charleston area in about a year in a half. It all depends on how much money I can save!

Have only been here a week, but so far so good. The cars here are diverse. I’ve seen everything from FWD Capris to new Land Cruisers and so much more.

That’s too bad. I’ve never been, gonna try to change that soonish.

First one from scratch, third one he’s built so far though. The blue one was his first home built, it’s now in Germany, and the yellow one he finished about 5 years ago.

welcome to the columbia area. let me know if you want to get together sometime.

I will definitely try. When I get a more appropriate DD(Read: can keep up), we should go for a cruise some time! I’m the one who made the post about the Gilbert car show (got there, didn’t feel like walking 3 miles(Asthma)) on the Oppotalk page.

I’ve been to myrtle beach, but never Charleston.
They’re really enjoying it so far!

Well, with the exception of coming through here on the way back from OBX and coming up here and back in a day to drop stuff off(around 900 miles in a day, never again. The 1000 miles from PA to FL wasn’t that bad), this was my first time in the state lol.

That’s amazing. I wish I could build cool things.

Ya they’ve got a weird mix of cars out there. The only thing holding me back from moving to Charleston would be the lack of car scene. I’ve visited Charleston more times than I can count over the past 15 years but cars don’t seem to be a big deal there.
Anyways, enjoy yourself! Have fun with this next chapter in your life!

Well he started with small engines when he was younger. He’s taught himself all the way. Though, he also had a full ride to Auburn if he had have wanted it. But he decided he didn’t want to. He now owns 3 planes, has a 3000 sq ft shop, 2500 sq ft house, 40 acres, a private landing strip(grass, but still), 2 retirements checks but still works to pass the time(escape my Aunt), and no debt whatsover, so I think he made the right choice.

It’s seems to be a bigger thing here, at least bigger than where I was. Good luck with whatever you do!

Sounds like he’s having fun.

With the exception of nearly losing his leg in a motorcycle accident, he’s as happy as can be.

I want a motorcycle until I hear another crash story and then I don't want one. Glad he's ok though.

He was t-boned by an F-150 that didn’t see him. He landed 30 yards from where he was hit. I think of him every time I see a dumbass piece of fucking shit on a motorcycle without a helmet (legal in some states). His helmet had a crack in it from the impact. It was an expensive and highly rated helmet, it did what it was supposed to do. If you get one, don’t cheap out on a helmet.

I just left the Irmo area last fall. Check out Palmetto State Armory if you want a great gun range out there.

Awesome! I’m not 21 yet, so do you know any good places to get a certification for carrying?

This is who I used...

Really helpful and a great page to follow. I liked the class and I appreciate that it was an 8 hour course. Great way to discuss all the issues and questions you might have. You can take the class with no pistol experience and get a lot out of it. I think it’s definitely better to wait to take this course until you’re comfortable with a pistol on your own at a range. I can’t remember how old you need to be, but Palmetto rents out pistols of all calibers, makes, and models. Great way to get comfortable shooting before moving to CCW Permit. It took me 2 or 3 months to get my CCW Permit after the class.

Thanks! I probably should get on this pretty soon then lol.
