Remember that ultra cheap/probably totaled/damaged on delivery/auction fist my cousin bought. Well after receiving many brag texts involving videos of all his mods, the most recent being a Borla exhaust. It has self destructed at 9,000 miles. All I know is the interference engine interfered and now there is a hole in a piston.

Sounds ‘bout right.

Why do they still make interference engines?

It’s supposedly still under warranty so he should be alright.
Of course I never get the full picture so who knows.

Wait... The FiST motor has a timing belt?!
I thought those went out of style at least a decade ago.

Pretty sure it has a timing chain. Not sure how that makes a difference.

High compression motors(small combustion chambers) and high lift/long duration cams.

Always service the timing belt.

I thought so too when I bought one. But nope. BELT.
![]() 07/07/2015 at 21:26 |

How do you lose timing with a chain?
![]() 07/07/2015 at 21:30 |

Chain breaks or gets loose?
You have an LS, you should now how easily they destroy themselves.

That said this situation could’ve been caused by many things, dropped valve stuff like that.

The Fiesta has a belt?!

A BEEELLLLTTTT.
But really, keep it serviced and I think it’ll be fine. Or I will. And yeah, this sounds like a bad thing. what were the details on the FiST your friend bought?

Easy. It has a belt.

Efficiency, it’s all the rage these days.

Look up the early 2000 Chrysler 2.7 Soooo many grenaded engines due to broken timeing belt.

I learn something new everyday.
He got it really cheap through some connections his father has. Supposedly clean title and still under warranty. Some mods, cold air stuff like that. Started knocking after getting gas from an unfamiliar station. Blew up a couple miles later. He told me he tore it down although I didn’t get a chance to see the pics.

Plenty of timing chain setups fail just as well. Lincoln Ls and the familiar Jag V8s. You’re only as good as the weakest link, plastic tensioners.

How’s your FiST doing? Haven’t heard much about it lately.
![]() 07/07/2015 at 21:56 |

I haven’t driven it in over a month. The battery’s probably dead idk

Another notorious one for that is the Chevy Aveo. That motor could die of both the belt (a short life even as belts go) or a plastic tensioner failing.

Ghetto. What are they thinking?

Very possibly the best GIF ever.
