Those are my options for next weekend. To make a long story short, I get to spend a full day driving either of the aforementioned rides. The Scamp is the green 1971 model parked behind my Chrysler in the picture. It’s got a slant-six and the coolest green interior ever. The 650S is a 650S. Pretty sure it’s orange. Well Oppo,
what should I drive?
I like to stay true to old-school cars but 650 horsepower is hard to say no to.

I don’t even like McLarens but I still say drive it. How many opportunities will you have to drive a supercar? Probably not too many. And the Scamp is just a Scamp. It’s virtually like driving anything else from that era.
Patrick George wrote an article about the 650S a few months back that’s worth a read, and perhaps might sway you one way or the other.

You can drive a Scamp kicking tires on Craigslist. Go for the McLaren.

How is this even a question? The McLaren, obviously.

650S because you deserve to be a rich guy for a day.

McLaren. The Scamp is the Dodge Stratus of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Nothing special about it at all, especially one without a V8.

It depends on where you are driving them.

650S should be a lot more interesting experience. The Scamp is probably like your Chrysler but everything in 3/4 scale. And you can probably buy yourself a Scamp afterwards if the 650S was a disappointment.

650S!
