I’ve had my Lincoln for sale for about a month and I’m not getting any bites on it. My asking price is well below what some others are asking I’ve only seen 2 others for less and those were non runners parked in a field. Mine is a very strong runner that is 100% road worthy.

This is one of the cases where I'd bump the price up. Ask $4000, and chances are that enthusiasts of old broughams will come knocking.

Because everyone knows that Lincolns suck.

It has too many zeros in the title and people think it’s $22,000?
I dunno.

Not sure why the car isn’t selling but this line made me laugh.
The brakes on this are huge they could stop a bus.
There’s a reason for this ...

Because people don’t like real cars with character.
They want soul-sucking crossovers and Camry.

it’s counter intuitive, but yeah. I’d just assume theres something hidden at that price.

You know what I don’t doubt this and I will actually go fix this right away. I had my car for sale in a car show last week and a lot of people were like “WHAT HE WANTS $22K FOR THIS?” apparently people can’t read.

The thing is that he brakes are actually really grabby as in you touch the pedal and you almost go thru the windshield. It’s almost as if the brakes are too good for this application.

I thought someone said that they don’t use salt in Alberta.

I glossed over your link, but when I saw this comment I went back and looked, and for a second I thought it was $22k as well.

Seems like a really good deal for $2,200. As someone else mentioned, try bumping the price and maybe a lowballer will offer you what you want for it.

They don’t. That’s why it’s only rusted as much as it is. If they did it would look like this.
Considering the car is 36 years old on original paint I’d say it stood the test of time pretty good considering it’s winter for 8 months out of the year.

I’ve never heard of this site. I would suggest listing it on eBay and Craigslist.

Raise the price. People looking at used cars judge value based on asking price far more than usual. List a car below value and people start wondering why it is low. The conclusion they always reach is that something is majorly wrong with it.

This is why:
...but mark it down to $1999 “because psychology” and see if that helps.

It’s the Canuckistan equivalent of Craigslist. This is the biggest most used classified site in Canada.

Can confirm. Have done this with all sorts of stuff. LongbowMkII makes a great point: if you price something fairly for a quick sale, most people assume “hidden problems,” not “a good deal.” Price bump!

It’s changed now.

I don’t know I was only trying to sell it for what I have into it. I was hoping someone would get a great deal as I’m not trying to make any money on it just looking to clear some room and get my money back.
I would of thought that posting my bottom dollar would make it sell quicker but it seems I may be wrong.

The thing is I’m not even getting lowball offers the only offer I got was for $500 bucks and that person was clearly just trying to be a dick and waste my time so I did not even bother responding.

But that’s why I told them to come check it out for themselves and see that I’m not hiding anything.

Ahh ok then.

That’s textbook economics, it has no power here. People on craigslist want a good deal, but most do not know how to properly assess the value of a used car so they just assume it’s worth what you are asking (and a car that is actually only worth $2200 will be a major headache for the owner.) Then they try to haggle down to get a good deal. By all means let them talk you down, but they have to actually be there looking at the car for that to happen.

Because those drink gas like it’s going out of style and handle like a small aircraft carrier.

Assuming Kijiji works like craigslist, it’s easy enough to try a price bump. Maybe it looks like some kind of scam where people take someone elses pictures and make an ad for a car that they don’t have? People can get suspicious (rightly or wrongly) if it seems like too good of a deal.
![]() 07/07/2015 at 12:37 |

That’s exactly what the scammers would say!

Clearly, Canada hates America.

Makes sense. I’m just so used to people trying to get the bottom dollar before even looking at the ar that I’d post the bottom dollar to avoid the hassle. I never understood how someone will try to negotiate before even knowing if the want the car or not. I understand that they want the best deal but c’mon you need to see it first what if you don’t even want it?
I’ll have to re-assess my strategy since it’s clearly not working. Honesty is not working in my favor. Yet people complain that there is no honest sellers out there.

I wish it were in the states. I have a standing offer of $1716 US.
![]() 07/07/2015 at 13:11 |

Because you are such a good guy I’d let you have it for $1700 USD! Didn’t you say you had some buddies in Alberta? come for a visit and drive it home.

I’ve been looking at used cars a lot lately, and whenever I see one that’s cheaper than all the others, I immediately assume it must have something wrong with it and move on.

I did a conversion and it came back with my figure. I didn’t realize that the exchange rate was so much. Seems like for a long time the CD was pretty equal to the USD.
That is a thought. You’re not far from Edmonton. 1300 miles, 2100 klicks.

I’m 30 miles from Edmonton and yes the Canadian dollar currently sucks ass.
