There was a Pimp My Ride episode featuring a Festiva at one point. It was somewhat horrible, before and after.

My dad had a light blue Festiva sedan (dunno if those ever made it to the US) when I was growing up. One of my most vivid memories in the car is sitting in the back seat with my brother while going “flat out” on a four-lane divided highway. We may have been doing like 125 km/h, 140 tops, but the Festiva really had to try, it was very exhilarating to ~6 year old me.
Then my dad said something along the lines of “there comes a fast one”. I whip around and look at the horizon over the back seat, a first generation Dodge Durango is coming at us like a bat outta hell. Flew right by us and left us in the dust, it was so awesome! Durangos were very rare and expensive, if not luxurious where I grew up. And that slightly angry face looked menacing coming at us so fast. Ah, good times.

No stories, but I’ve wanted a Shogun ever since Road & Track featured a yellow one when they were first built.

Love them I learned to drive in a 1990 Festiva. No power steering. Small enough engine that it wouldn’t generate enough heat in winter to melt the permafrost in the foot wells unless you drove it for two or more hours. Excellent on gas. Cheaply made, but they are exactly what an economy car is supposed to be.

I have a story!
My best friend’s mom had one for a couple years as their family car. They had three kids, and she was .... Not small, so it was rather comical. She was happy to have a car that was modern enough to have square headlights. The Festiva replaced a ‘77 Ford LTD. So yes, a car 10 years newer is a lot more modern (this was in the mid-90’s BTW), but I considered this a SIGNIFICANT step down.
My little sister was also friends with his little sisters, so at one point their mom crammed her three kids, plus my sister, in the back. Being the largest child by far, I got to ride shotgun. We then proceeded to truck an hour up the interstate to go shopping at the outlet malls. If we moved, so did the car. I think the top speed with all of us in there was something like 65mph. We survived though!

At one point my parents owned 2 of them, a black 4speed carbed one. And a blue 5speed fuel injected one. My dad has a thing for small quirky cars especially if they aren’t from the U.S. so he bought each new. My mom totaled the black on by hitting black ice and sliding into a curb. Dad said there was a hill on the way home that he would enter in 5th floored at 70mph and leave it floored at ~50mph.
