Ok, so I thought I had it narrowed down to 2 cars but Mrs. Firewrx introduced another choice into the mix and I know nothing about it.
Anyone know anything about the Mercedes-Benz C250 Coupe? Specifically 2012? I know this was the first year for this trim level and that’s about it. I’ve heard some different things in my research, 1) the car doesn’t feel peppy, but I’ve also heard others saying the Sport mode helps, 2) the car is pretty well made and good construction, 3) CR gave it pretty good reviews. Other than that...I’m all ears.
Highlights:
Pano Sunroof
Leather
Looks
Concerns:
Not sure about pep
Not sure about how much insurance will be affected (calling insurance for a quote on Monday for all 3)
Here’s a link to the specific car in question:

For those of you that didn’t hear what my previous vehicle options were, here they are:
2012 Dodge Charger R/T
Highlights:
R/T Max Package (Adaptive cruise control, Heated/Ventilated Leather, Premium Sound, Sunroof
Concerns:
50k miles on the odo
Most expensive of the 3 based on my discount

2013 Cadillac ATS
*No actual photo yet
Highlights:
2.0T Engine
AWD
Premium Sound
Leather
Still under Factory Warranty
Cheapest of the 3
Concerns:
Smaller vehicle (haven’t seen one in person to judge for myself)

IMHO the C-Class sedan looks better. Not to mention it will be easier to sell later. What about a 335i? It’s better than all of those.

Pretty sure by 2012 that the reliability issues were a thing of the past. The only thing that would put me off is the black interior, but then I was traumatized as a child by an Impala with no A/C. In DC. Which was built on a swamp. I still blame my cheapskate father.

I'd say ATS, but if you want a coupe, go CTS Coupe. That car is goddamn amazing. The perfect mix of luxury and muscle car.

Unfortunately, I’m sticking with one dealership group due to friends and that I used to work there. Not a great selection of Beamers

Thanks for the input! Yeah...no matter which car, I’ll make sure that A/C blows ice cubes.

I was fawning over one that they have!

I’d say the Benz is probably the best bet. I really don’t like the ATS, they just don’t feel very premium to me.
C-Class is slightly boring and not super enthusiast friendly.
Charger is meh. Mopar reliability scares me a bit.

Thanks, and as for all of these cars...reliability scares me lol. Warranty’s will be bought!

There’s a black diamond 2013 3.6 RWD Performance in my driveway right now. They’re probably my favorite 2 door car made recently. They’re awesome in almost every way.

Well in that case I’d get the ATS. It’ll handle better than the C250, and be cheaper to maintain in the long run.

Are you only looking at your dealership group? What are you after?
You might be able to get better/cheaper/more focused vehicles elsewhere.
I’d be looking at that 128i and the FR-S. Also might let your Internet guy know he priced a Cruze at $109,000.

Yeah, unfortunately I’m sticking with my dealership group because I have some loyalty to them. Worked for them and have friends on the inside.
I’m honestly not sure what I’m looking for. I like options (Leather, Sunroof) and prefer to have some HP but not necessary. All-in-all, I just want to like the car and enjoy driving it.

I wonder if there is a modern car where A/C isn’t standard ... probably some econoboxes.

C-class is nicely built but sloooooow. I’d go with the ATS.

Not sure if it's the case but when VW decontented their line up around 2012 when the pushed for volume vs having a car worth owning you could get a Jetta without A/C

Wow...that’s crazy

Thanks! I still need to drive that ATS.

Here’s my C300 in the same color. I love the pano roof and mine is fairly loaded so the interior is a nice place to be with a great sound system. I bought it a little less than 2 months ago and it hasn’t given me any trouble, been reading up on forums and it seems pretty reliable. I get about ~18ish driving in the city, seen 32 mpg on the highway with a little effort.
It’s a nice car and all, but it’s not a very fun drive. The power is nice, the exhaust sound is nice, but the handling is too soft and steering is too boosted. The car overall just feels soft, which may not be bad for a daily driver. My car is a 4matic, and I imagine the RWD cars are more fun. It’s a great car, I really enjoy having it. But my 2007 328i is waaaaay more fun to drive. The super smooth inline six combined with the steering and handling is just perfect. Not too harsh, not too soft. If you aren’t looking for a sports car the merc should be just fine.
Let me know if you have any questions. And for what it’s worth, I would rather have a loaded CPO 335i or 335is haha. Wouldn't really want to own one out of warranty. The merc is a nice change for me though.

I drove a C250 coupe, and man was that thing underpowered! The C350 costs more, but it’s worth it for performance that’s actually decent.

I agree.

Here’s my thought on the C-Class, in general.
You buy a C-Class so you can tell people you have a Mercedes. Nothing about that car is really all that sporty, luxurious, or good.
I’d go for the the Charger.

Totally unrelated, but i sat in my friend’s c300 once, was not a comfortable car at all. Also was disappointed by the dash design and the way the material looked. I expected better. Steering feel was limpy as hell.
Considering Mercedes is my favorite German luxury manufacturer, i guess only their s class and sl class meet my expectations.

That's awesome! Great looking car! I appreciate the info and I'll let you know if I have more questions!

Thanks for the input. I love my charger and was thinking just a transfer into a newer model but now I've been confused with Turbos and AWD things lol

Thanks, the color is great. Getting a later model coupe makes it even better, you'll get tons of love for the color.
