Give me some suggestions. I tried Spotify Radio using Meshuggah as the basis and all I got was stuff where the vocals are all Randy Savage “oooh, ohhhh!” gutteral junk.

Got any ideas? ULY, I’m looking at you.

Animals as Leaders does freaking awesome instrumental stuff Killswitch Engage, All That Remains both have vocalists that actually sing in addition the screaming. Crossfaith is another I’m fond of, they are more on the industrial side, but not Randy Savage vocals there either.

Mehuggah was an interesting choice - they are like progressive death. Very fast and heavy, but technically complex. Here’s some random stuff I listen to, I’ve tried to break it up a bit into a few different veins of metal, but a lot of it splits a few genres so it’s hard to pin down.

Thrashy/Death/Black stuff (usually fast, hard, loud but not too Randy Savage) - Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Testament, Overkill, Death Angel, Lamb of God, Venom, In Flames, Amon Amarth, Avatar, Katatonia, Kataklysm, Ex Deo

Stoner/Prog (more like traditional rock with some heaviness thrown in)- Black Sabbath, Opeth (one of my favorites, a bit heavier than most on the list), The Sword, Kyng, Kyuss, Red Fang, Mastadon, Baroness, Tank, Dozer, Danzig, Corrosion of Conformity, Type O Negative

Symphonic/Black/Death/Weirdness (just crazy stuff here) - Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Ihsahn, Emperor, Vader, Morbid Angel (probably more on the Randy Savage side), Ghost BC, Dillinger Escape Plan

For those in college in 2006, who could forget All That Remains’ song Six that was on Guitar Hero 2?

Me evidently!....I blame the copious ammounts of beer consumed between now and then. I had completely forgotten that this was on GH.

Check our Disarmonia Mundi. I discovered them late, but you’ll have that.

I don’t get the name, and I think they had a few different singers (including the guy from Soilwork), but they have a lot of crunchy gooves if that’s what you’re into. This is one of the better early songs:

The whole point of Spotify is playlists. Even on mobile you can play playlists on random for free and also make radio stations based on your playlist so they have a better basis for radio than a single artist.

I know, I have tons of playlists. I just use the radio function if I’m looking for other artists similar to one I like. Can you start the radio based on one of your existing playlists?

YES. This is probably my favorite function of Spotify. It’s like Pandora without the bullshit of waiting a couple months for the radio station to figure out your tastes. I also like to search for popular playlists similar to my tastes. One I really liked was Southern Gothic.
