The Inline V lives on!

A boxer has no V angle! Also, Lancia and VW might want to have a word with these guys and their patent.

It’s not a 180° vee angle?

Also, regarding the patent - yeah, I’m not sure how they’re claiming patent on that, unless its for the triple-cam cylinder head only.

Der Inline-V lebt!

Nope, it has no V angle because it isn’t a V. The V is made on the same crankpin by the two conrods. A boxer has just one rod per crankpin, hence there is no V.

So, would a flat engine be 180° then, since the opposed cylinders share a crank pin?

If the opposed cilinder share a crankpin, it’s indeed a flat engine and not a boxer. Ferrari’s flat 12’s were 180 degree V’s for example.
