I try not to look down on other people’s cars for a couple of reasons:
every car has its pros and cons
every customization is an owners personal expression
That having been said, this was either a joke or someone is expressing things about themselves they might want to keep secret.
Sometimes it amazes me the things people would rather have than money.

Its like a who’s who list of terrible and tacky mods. They just keep coming!

What is the point of this strip? I see it on cars occasionally. Does it serve a purpose other than reducing your field of view?

Because: Racecar.

I for one would take all the panel gap in the world over money

It reduces the suns glare, just like a sun visor. The only problem is it blocks your view of red lights if you’re one of the first couple of cars.

I have a tint one, maybe 20%, and seems like it cuts down on the amount of Sun coming in to roast them thighs. But that’s totally negated when the top goes down.

I’m guessing most of these mods were done sometime between 2000-2006

But dude it’s a type R

I’ll take a well-fitting distasteful mod over an ill-fitting tasteful mod.

and a type X if you notice the side.

I asked myself how this passes inspection every year, then I noticed the Idaho plates and remembered that Idaho don’t care.

I’m impressed by how well the interior paint has held up (as I am assuming this was done some years ago when this was the fad)
I have my fingers crossed that someone bought this riced out example for super cheap on craigslist, and the initial ricer is no longer the owner, now it is just some poor student who bought this civic for $100 cheaper than the next comparable civic of the same year on their local CL.

Thats my hope as well. Still, if you are going to buy a car super cheap, seems like it wouldn’t hurt to paint it supercheap too so its not a rolling embarrassment.

overpray from cheap rust repair over the vinyl. nice

yeah I noticed that too. At that point...its probably time to take off the decals.

On street cars, they have no point, because street cars, have, you know, visors. On racing cars in which the driver’s seat is often quite a bit lower than stock, they serve to reduce glare significantly.

View this car as a relic from a bygone era. It was probably built like this in the late 90’s-early 2000s, when Fast & Furious kicked the Import Tuner craze into high gear. You don’t see them like this any more!

and yet, people drive around this sort of crap because they buy a cheap car and invest zero cents into it

Where I live there would be a bidding war, fist fights, and guns fired for the “honor” of owning this. No joke.

My brother-in-law does this to every car he owns. He’s quite tall, but he does nearly half the windshield. I can’t explain it.
