So instead of fixing the connection troubles that have been popping up this week, they decided to install a new and even more aggressive Internet filtering system. Thanks for nothing, Sophos. Anyone with a clue as to how to deal with it?

Have a pic of a cat sleeping on top of someone else's backpack for your troubles.

Apply high-voltage electricity to the filtering system... and the IT personnel responsible for installing it.

Hope this helps!

Serious answer though: I use https://www.betternet.co/ to get around Internet filtering at work.

Can I first put 12-gauge armor-piercing slug rounds through their kneecaps first?

At my college, there was a MAC address filtering system in place, but the internet did not seem to be content filtered at all. In order to get a device to register, I would install their required antivirus software, approve the computer, and promptly uninstall it once I was approved for use. It was a “one time” thing, so I never had to worry about having to do it twice.

Also, if you really wanted to be a sneaky bastard, get a USB wifi adapter, approve it’s MAC address on the network, and then use that little adapter with any computer you want.

The way I found out about the lack of content filtering was pretty comical. Actually, it wasn’t really funny, it was more incredible that it was allowed. There are things on the internet. Many things.

I fucking hated Sophos from my college days. What are your issues?

I use a chrome extension called ZenMate. It's free, I'd give it a try

Fuck sophos with a rusty fork.

It keeps you from doing anything useful, and blocks literally nothing from raping your system.

This coming from someone who had to support an environment where sophos was the primary AV solution. I started just uninstalling it at the end of my time there, especially on users who were constantly getting hit with viruses. It blocked literally no viruses, Microsoft Security Essentials was vastly better. It was only good for managing web content controls and making certain people lazy as fuck.

I can almost guarantee you that the person who did the installing is not the one that made the decision to get it.
