I feel like this is CP, but a quick search of NADA shows that $5000 isn’t unreasonable. And the 90’s teenage me thinks it is a cool car.

I find the ‘enthusiast’ cars from the 80’s and 90’s cooler than the 00’s and 10’s

For me that might just be nostalgia talking, childhood and teenage dream cars. I still want a 1983 Dodge Shelby.

I don’t blame you. I’m also guessing turbo? 80’s cars are nuts for that.

I’m not sure how hawaii varies price but if I were to make an offer I’d tell him I have $3800/4k to give him on the spot and see if he balks, that’s how I bought mine ha. Four bolt rear end or three? 4 bolt lsd is ideal.

Whoever had it before them at least added the important bits. Among the mystery turbo it’s not a $5k interior (though I’ve seen worse) and the wheels are gah, though the dunlops are a nice choice and at least it has coilovers. It will be a ton of fun until something breaks, though relatively cheap to replace (upgrade) if you don’t feel like tossing it after the 3rd thing breaks

He’s only asking $3000, that’s why I was surprised that it might be worth $5ooo. So if I had free cash right now, I would probably offer somewhere around $2500. I’m evil.

So my memory of the one that got away (my dad didn’t want to pay the insurance on a “sports car” when he found out the price difference) was that it was a turbo, but when I wiki’d it the turbo was not on the ‘83. It was on later years. So maybe I just got the year wrong. It was 20 years ago.

That’s my though reading the ad. The seller doesn’t think of it that way. It was when I went to find a price and had to look in a ‘classic’ guide that I was like... uhm... Could this be a potential classic? I mean with as many Eclipses and Talons from that era which were destroyed by stupid driving skilled racing with bad tire pressures, maybe the ones that survived will be sort of rare.

I’m just glad these guys haven’t realized yet that some of these cars are now possibly going up in value.
