The MK7 Golf is big enough inside for me and three more of me. This TDI/6-speed with vinyl interior is in the shop to get a hole cut in the roof. Here are my hairy, pale legs behind a seat I adjusted for a comfortable driving position:

Not bad, considering I’m 6’3” and 320 lbs.

It’s a pretty good looking car in person, too:

I also learned that the Chevy Volt depreciates like a cheap stereo. This one is two years old, had an original sticker around $33,000, and has 8500 miles on it:

Even after leather interior, they’re out under $19,500.

Yup. In our shop we do 2 a day - sometimes three. They used to have a reputation for being cheaply built leakmonsters but that’s not the case anymore. Usually a leaky sunroof is caused by clogged drain tubes.

Our parent company is the OEM supplier for sunroofs for Toyota USA.

Well now I learned something today too.

How much does it usually run?

If you were to call us to have one installed, about a grand or so. Depending on the car.

I sat in a mark 7 and the first thing I thought was...wow, this dash is a major step down from the mark 6. Personal preference I guess but it sure looked cheap.

YES! That’s what I thought too! Even with the MK7 Sportwagen... it just felt so... cheap. Its like they felt the need to try to make the interior feel more upscale by making everything shiny. Instead the effect was just the opposite :/

At least in my opinion anyways...

Curious - for a car w/o a sunroof do you run drain pipes down the pillars or do most cars already have them installed as part of the build process?

I’m assuming you have to run drain pipes in some cases - can that be a pain?

Thanks,

Frank

We use flexible vinyl tubes. Most cars have a place for them to exit but sometimes the guys in the back have to pull out a big metal punch and a sledge hammer.
