This is beyond my pasty English ability to bear.

Some nice people wanted to sell me a t-shirt.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:20 |

Typical English wussy. If it’s 35, put on a JACKET .
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:20 |

It’s raining where I live so it’s actually relatively cool.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:21 |

oh, well that was very nice of them to offer it to you. No one ever asks me to buy their t-shirts..
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:22 |

Honestly, I reckon that, if it were to rain here, it’d just be the hot, annoying kind that makes it worse.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:23 |

Does it count if I fill the lining with ice first?
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:25 |
|
I mean thats warm, but the bad part is humidity. That’ll make it feel much worse
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:25 |

I just wanted to make a badly informed American Fahrenheit joke!
But yes, a vest/jacket with ice packs in it would be a treat I’d imagine.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:25 |

I am all too familiar with the hot, not cooling rain that only succeeds in making the air even more humid.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:26 |
|
I’d kill for 35 right now. It’s like 90 or so outside.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:27 |
|
I made an ill-informed response, apparently. Brain’s not thinking good cuz hot.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:28 |

I get it Britain, you like to use imperial and metric units, but please use the best units from each system, not the worst.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:28 |

35...I’m assuming that’s *C? *shrug* that’s a typical summer day here in Houston.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:29 |
|
Don’t remind me—it’s only going to get wetter.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:29 |

I would not survive Houston.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:31 |

This is why god saw fit to bless us with air conditioning and we’ve seen it go up to the low 40’s in August.....with what felt like 100% humidity to go with it.....we don’t go outside much in August.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:31 |
|
I’m okay on most Imperial measurements, but Fahrenheit and yards have always been completely alien to me.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:35 |
|
I am assuming that 95F is a bit unusual there?
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:35 |
|
Regrettably, 35 here is 95 in American. *sweats profusely*
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:37 |

Anything over 30C is pretty much apocalyptic here.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:38 |
|
If you’re this put out by heat and humidity, you might not want to ever attend Dragon*Con in the US. Conditions are usually over 30C and quite humid outdoors.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:39 |
|
It was 35 here with 80% humidity two days ago, you’ll get through it. Lots of Shandy of OJ and you’ll be golden
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:39 |
|
That would really suck if you didn’t have AC and I know that is common there, so my condolences
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:40 |
|
That’s part of our problem—since this barely ever happens, it’s almost unheard of for homes to have air con. And, thanks to some Gallic engineering brilliance, my car doesn’t have it either.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:41 |
|
If you think of it in Kelvin it’s only 308 degrees K. Now it doesn’t sound so bad eh?
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:41 |
|
I reckon I’m going to struggle enough with Gamescom next month.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:43 |
|
I am so sorry to hear that.....and a car that isn’t a stripped out race car not having ac is mind boggeling to me. I suggest clearing out some room in the fridge and chilling in there for a while.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:43 |
|
To acquire shandy and OJ, I’d have to actually leave the house, and I feel like I’ll melt the moment I step into open sunlight. The desperation’s getting there, though.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:44 |

Being brown skinned and being stuck in a room with the radiator jammed on full for way too many years has made me immune to the heat but seriously I fucking hate the humidity. I feel like I can pluck balls of water out of the air. I’m gonna go sit in a park for a bit or at least find a less built up area.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:46 |

Even with unlined jacket and mostly indoors, my sixth-Doctor outfit was quite warm.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:49 |
|
It’s actually not too far off, if you ignore the power shortage of my budget engine option. It only weighs 750-ish kg, and the model had a rather successful rally career. Unfortunately, no RHD version had AC, because they couldn’t be arsed to re-engineer the engine bay to fit the pump in around the steering column.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:49 |

Do most homes have air conditioning? I know parts of the US that don’t get very hot in summer, most homes do not have it.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:50 |
|
Oh, yeah, that’s much better.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:51 |
|
Well its all about negative connotation, once you go out and melt for a few minutes and acquire said refreshing beverages you’ll enjoy the shade and comfort of your home... plus some beverages. :)
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:51 |
|
They do not. And, though this isn’t exactly common these days, neither does my car.
I actually kinda wish I was at work right now, just for the AC.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:52 |

My 11th Doctor outfit was similarly uncomfortable at the 50th Anniversary event I went to. Thankfully, it wasn’t too warm a night.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:55 |

My mum always used to have the heating on way too high, but it’s done fuck all for my heat-resistance.
I had thought to go to the beach, maybe catch up on some reading... But I’ve been robbed of the energy to so much as get out of my PJs.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:56 |
|
I’m getting there. I just need to build the will.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 11:59 |

back home in Mexico AC is an add-on to any model of a car. So is power steering
![]() 07/01/2015 at 12:03 |
|
I’d kill for a beach. Well not one connected to an open sewer.
Seriously look at the colour of the water!
![]() 07/01/2015 at 12:04 |
|
In a sense, the entire ocean is an open sewer, but yah. The funny thing about growing up next to the sea is that you basically never make the time to go to the beach.

Air conditioning in your house is unheard of in Europe unless you live on the Mediterranean.
Plenty of cars without it too.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 12:08 |

Of course you don’t say degrees Kelvin. Just Kelvin.
#pedant
![]() 07/01/2015 at 12:08 |

Did not know that.

Currently a toasty 31°C here at Menaggio and working on my tan x)
![]() 07/01/2015 at 12:14 |

O.o I haven’t seen power steering as optional in about 20 years (barring a few “track special” type cars), same with AC
![]() 07/01/2015 at 12:20 |

When you write your will I call dibs on your car.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 12:21 |

I got a C in that class, now you know why.
![]() 07/01/2015 at 13:17 |

It’s funny the things we consider as standard here in the US in terms of equipment. Even stuff like ABS. Did you know some newer model Jettas (or called the Borat in Mexico, may be the Passat, I don’t recall) were sold without ABS standard? It’s insane!
![]() 07/02/2015 at 03:44 |
|
It’s the climate. When you ‘need’ AC for maybe a day or two in an average
year
, most homes won’t have it. Quite logical really. Especially since homes (at least in Germany and the Netherlands) tend to be well isolated, so they won’t heat up that quickly during summer.
![]() 07/02/2015 at 03:48 |

I know how it feels. I actually had a headache the full day yesterday because of the wheather, despite drinking like a madman. Didn’t get any work done.
![]() 07/02/2015 at 05:53 |

35C = just nice.

Got off to a better start today?
Still going strong ... will we make the 40°C?
Blech ... my computer starts misbehaving already, as indoor temperatures (no AC indeed) keep climbing, too, due to this being the 4th hot day.
