HP Voodoo Blackbird case, water-cooled version. I thought it was an interesting item, so I picked it up at a local thrift store. What I didn’t realize was that this is some sort of cult collectible item. Maybe I won’t throw a system into this box after all. There is one on eBay for a BIN price of $899 and a starting bid of $599. Just for a case? It’s nice, but really? I guess my 50 cents was well spent.

You gotta look at sold listings:

Kinja'd!!!

These all have computers inside of them.

I’m not saying the case you have isn’t worth anything - it is. Just not as much as that one person is asking for it.

Agreed. But just like nobody wants to buy someone else’s project car, I doubt that there is much interest in someone’s kickass 3 or 4 year old gaming rig. Even if I netted a couple hundred out of this case I’d be satisfied. But it seems like stupid money for flashy box.

I’ll never forgive HP for ruining for Voodoo. This was this crowning achievement before HP shuttered their stand-alone operations.

I guess I’m just ridiculously practical - I’ve been using the same old grey 15-year-old Antec case every time I upgrade.

I have a few basic rules when it comes to my desktop computer - I don’t want to hear it and I don’t want to see it; I would be happier if I could have the CPU in another room entirely.

Someday when I’m stupid-rich I’ll have a server room and interact with everything remotely, but in the mean time I’ll just continue to hid the CPU under a table somewhere.

I love the wording on that $799 InWin case listing - limit 5 per customer. Ha!
