I made an appointment for the dealer to look at our 2013 Outback. It’s leaking oil from the passenger side cylinder head. 22,000 miles on the odometer, still under factory warranty. Thank god it is not burning oil.

...I was one of those people...which made no sense, as you can’t see the Pleiades from Australia.

Do you still have it or did you say fuck it and get a RAV4?

oil from the head? nutty, those subarus and their head gaskets...

I was going for the double entendre, being an engineer it’s hard for me.

I had a similar problem fixed recently, passenger valve cover gasket leaking.

The Subaru H-4 kinda sucks. The rest of the car is pretty good.

eh, its a good engine, but they do have a bad rep for head gaskets on the NA motors.

I think it’s their gaskets in general!

Yeah, that’s what I hope it is, and not the head gasket. It really looks like it is leaking from the head gasket.

I never knew how “Subarus are Australian” thing came from, but I remember it being somewhat common for people to think that. I guess now I know.

I can’t even see my motor due to the top mount and all the systems. Must be nice!

This car has the new F series engine, not the E series right?
![]() 06/26/2015 at 12:16 |

Yes it’s the FB engine.

Did they figure out the problem?
These engines don’t have a reputation for leaky gaskets yet as far as I know.

Taking it in on Tuesday. There is a class action law suit against Subaru for excessive oil consumption, but nothing about leaking oil. My car doesn’t burn any oil and the leak is minor but it’s practically a new car. New cars shouldn’t leak any oil.

I was too young to know the difference between the Pleiades and the Commonwealth Star + Southern Cross. Cluster on one side of five stars, one big star to the left - HOW THE FUCK WERE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW?
