That the RECARO buckets in a Mustang are not fat-kid friendly.
Although I wouldn’t mind having them if I was on a track.

From what I’ve heard, they aren’t even non-fat kid, but stocky kid friendly.

I’m a lardass and people claim this about the seats in my Focus ST. Cannot reproduce.
What is so bad about these? Aside from the fixed headrest, they look roomier.

I thought that was all recaros

I’m 6’3” and about 320 and it’s tight. The cushion isn’t bad but the backrest bolsters poke me in the sidebelly.

Yeah, you probably wouldn’t fit in my seats, either. Tall guys that aren’t stick-thin hate them. Short guys that are fat hate them. People in the average height range and anywhere below huge fit well... Those look like they’d fit fatter better than mine, though.

Looks better in the shoulders than the Focus ST seats. Those were narrow in the shoulder, and for us who have broad shoulders, it meant we bridged the wings, and aren’t cupped by the wings.
I wasn’t about to spend $25-30K on a new car and then immediately have to spend *more* money to get comfortable to me seats. So I bought a different car :)

As you said to Eric, it’s also the height. I’m 6”3’ and have issues in pretty much all Recaros I’ve ever sat in. Granted I’m also fluffy

Not to body shame, but you might want to drop some of that weight. 100 lbs over normal wieght can’t be healthy.

I haven’t had a chance to try the Mustang. I’ve sat in FiSTs with both the Recaro and standard seats. For the track I’d definitely prefer the Recaro, but for the 99.9% of my driving that isn’t the track, I actually find the standard seats more comfortable. They do wrap around me a bit, but not as much as the Recaros, which lets me move around and get in and out of the car easier. So I’d probably save the $2000 and get the standards seats in a daily driver FiST.

I’m in the short and fat group and I can’t stand them. I wanted to buy a FiST but I just don’t fit properly.

The FiST is worse than the FoST in this respect. Slightly thinner seats.

The problem is that in Canada the FiST and the FoST are only available with Recaros we cannot buy them with the standard sport seats. If we could I’d already have one.

Not a bad problem to have... I wish we did here, their resale value would be much higher if we didn’t have the ST1 dragging it down. Not that I’ll probably sell mine in the foreseeable future, but it looks better when my “assets” have more value.

I have a friend who is just large, not fat he is in shape but he’s like 6’6”. He hated the recaros he tried sitting in.
In my Skyline I have similar shaped seats and I am 5’9” and not overweight and they are clearly made for tiny asian bodies.

I drove an FoST while searching for a new car. Although the side bolsters fit my wide frame fine, the leg bolsters cut into the side of my thighs. Granted, as a cyclist, my legs aren’t “normal”, but a little more room or some adjustability would have gone a long way.
I found the front seats of the WRX much more comfortable and my kids found the back seat more comfortable and much roomier. You can guess which car I bought.

you might want to drop some of that weight.
No shit. Unfortunately, “eat right and exercise more,” is a very gradual process, and at age 37, my metabolism is slowing so my body wants to retain more of the weight I have. This, combined with the fact that I’ve got arthritic knees and tendinitis in my feet (caused by the two years I was without a car and had to walk four miles a day just to get back and forth to work) means that most exercise has to be done with extreme care in order to keep from reinjuring myself.
