YEAHHH!! Look at that thing throwing around all that mud! So how do they really do in the mud?

Kinja'd!!!

Oh, dear. Also... hey, a Saab 900!

Kinja'd!!!

Yikes.

But what about the Cherokee?

Kinja'd!!!

Uh-oh.

Kinja'd!!!

Eek.

Kinja'd!!!

Oh, my.

For the record, I don’t think anything on street tires is getting out of this slop.

Not sure who did the Renegade, but the Cherokee was a salesman.

Honestly it’s not really their fault. We had almost six inches of rain in a week and the ground just gave out. The whole area looks like solid grass yet I sunk into it when I walked over there to take the pictures.

They’re only on the grass because we’re repaving the lot.

Not sure about mud, but the Cherokee’s were in Moab with us when we were doing development work on the Grand Cherokee. I was surprised in what they could do. Crawled over all the same obstacles as us

The differences between muddy water, and hub deep water saturated dirt are apparent now.

I have it on good authority that an old Saab 900 does mud better than a Renegade.

Looks like you need the Trailhawk with them knobby tires.

This happened to me when I was working as a salesmen. Thankfully the vehicle I drove into the muck was a 4x4 F-250 with a locking rear diff.

yeah, that is some pretty impressive mush. You’d need something with serious rubber to make progress in that.

Ah, fond memories of Pennsic mud.

My lady’s Jeep Liberty had NO problem getting around.

How much of that mud got tracked back into the showroom once the drivers got out?

I was also pretty impressed with what you could do in a cherokee. In terms of traction and torque it has all you need. It totally lacks in articulation and clearance though so its the kind of vehicle you are on your sliders and plates a lot...but it will get you through.

That right there is why ground clearance is key. I don’t care how good your traction control is, once the body is sitting on the ground, you're going no where.

Cherokee looks like it’s only fwd based on the mud thrown. Might have done a bit better with a 4 wheel model.

It actually was 4wd. They were turning the wheels left and right trying to find some traction so it threw lots more mud up against the sides of the car.
