Folklore possibly... but back when Chrysler owned Lamborghini, apparently Lamborghini helped work over the Viper engine for more performance.
Now we’ve gone full circle.

I didn’t know this existed. McLaren Diamondback Viper. Jalopnik did an article about it in 2009, # 5121963, since Kinja doesn't want me to post links today.
For the money I’d rather have a modern McLaren (granted the listed price is from 2009), but the engine would satisfy my dreams of a FR-McLaren-Powered Volvo Wagon.

Is it wrong that if I was stupid rich I’ve want to take a first-gen Viper shell and power it with a turbo-charged slant six making the same horsepower as the v-10?

ASC McLaren, aka the company that gave us the Turbo Grand Prix, not McLaren, the company that gave us the F1.
