Not really surprised by this one, in light of recent events.
Effective immediately, the Union Jack roof and mirror options will no longer be available on Minis sold in the US. When asked for comment, a spokesman said “Nobody was really buying them anyways. Plus, too many Stupid Americans (tm) kept calling us to complain because they felt repressed by the imagery, and it wasn’t really worth arguing with them. I think they were confusing it with another flag of similar design and color theme, but whatever. Lots of them said disparaging things about our tea and its lack of electrolytes as well.”

I assume Australia and the Kiwis will also get rid of this offensive and oppressive flag too in the near future?

Nice touch with the electrolytes. They’re what plants crave.

The United Kingdom
is
pretty dickish.

Oh my... Sorry fellow Americans, but the stupidity of your co-citizens knows no limits...
The union jack has always been the symbol of the Minis and its a cool feature on the new ones.
Oh yes, and I’m french. From Brittany. So if there’s someone who can complain about Brits, it’s me haha :)

Why don’t they offer the German flag? Since they’re German BMW’s now :p

Makes sense to me. The British not only supported slavery, but sent lots of Irish as well as African slaves to the colonies.

I always figured the second set of doors was the offensive option, but whatever..

I believe this post was supposed to be a commentary on how removing the flag from the
General Lee
is something we should think is pandering to “SJWs”

So much whitewashing of involvement of slavery going around here. It's just too easy to demonize the South and say they were the only ones involved.

I think this piece is satire, poking fun at the removal of the rebel flag from state capitols around the south. But yes, there are a lot of dumb fucking people in the south.

Good. Every time I see one, I just want to grab my guns and let King George know what’s what!

And yet The Party of Lincoln is tarred with this idea that they are indirectly supporting oppression and hate etc.
May we take this moment to remember the Dixiecrats and specifically Fritz Hollings. Hollings was the Governor of South Carolina when the Stars and Bars was first raised atop the State Capitol, in a measure that was passed by the Democrats of the State Legislature of SC. Fritz Hollings, Democrat of South Carolina.
Intellectual honesty in parts of the media takes a back seat to pushing the narrative.

I just people would research stuff like this for themselves, instead of acting on emotion. It's so easy to eat up what the media sits before you, but it's infinitely more rewarding and healthier to go out and hunt for your food, metaphorically speaking.

I just think that a very bad precedent is being set that if there is a symbol that quote-unquote offends someone or some group, that therefore it is not just a good idea, but *required* to banish it from the public square.
There is no right to be free from being offended. Plus making it about the symbol rather than the monster that pulled the trigger also is offensive in the manner that it diminishes the fact that the monster decided to do these things, and carried it out.
But since there is a sizable segment that doesn’t think that we should have a high level of individual autonomy in our lives (instead relinquishing it to a large, supposedly benevolent government), I don’t hold my breath waiting for the blame to be assigned to the individual, since this sizable segment only views things through the lens of group politics.
A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have.

I’d say that the US Capitol building, Washington, D.C. has them beat by a longshot.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 12:43 |

That's just as bad as saying the concentration of stupid people rises in ghettos. You're being just as bigoted, just to a different group of people.

you definitely have the right to be offended and you also have the right to try to solve that offense.

![]() 06/24/2015 at 13:39 |

Explain what you mean by “ghettos”, and keep in mind I made no racial distinction in my comment. Pretty telling if you're from the South.

I like the gold Union Jack options. That looks nice.

Yeah comparing a country’s flag to a symbol of racism is pretty fucking stupid...(and I don’t care if they argue it’s not one... You don’t see Germans harboring Nazis flags and arguing that they do so because they “remember” the origins of the autobahn and the beetle)
Today it’s solely used by very right wing Americans and just because of its political orientation, it should be abolished of government symbols. The racism behind it is only the fly on the poop... After all your constitution protects ones right to be an obnoxious racist, nostalgic of the time when slaves were as cool to own as an iPhone 6.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 14:33 |
|
You don't have to make any racial distinctions. Bigotry is hate directed at a group of people, whether they be defined by race or geographical region.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 15:38 |
|
So what were you trying to say with your “ghetto” comment?
![]() 06/24/2015 at 15:55 |
|
Making a generalization to compare to your generalization. In other words, to say that all black people are stupid is just as bad as saying all southerners are stupid. Two hateful and bigoted comments, but directed at two different groups of people. Nice effort to make me out as a racist though. Try harder next time.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 16:10 |
|
Except all southerners aren’t black and not everyone in a “ghetto” is black. The fact you associated “southerner” with white and “ghetto” with black is very telling. I never accused you of being a racist, I was merely pointing out how you turned my nonracial comment into a pretty ignorant racial one.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 16:46 |
|
And I never said that either generalization was true. And I never called you racist. You're grasping at straws here.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 16:54 |

If you are from the South, then I think this back and forth proves my point. This has all gone way over your head.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 16:58 |
|
No, you're in over your head. You don't have a counter argument, so you're calling me a racist.
![]() 06/24/2015 at 20:44 |

I’m not calling you racists. I’m calling you stupid. This post proves my point. Everything went right over your head.

Hahaha you crack me up. Too blind to see your own ignorance. I've wasted enough time replying to you. Have a nice night, slugger.
