FYI, if you’re going to cheap out and have a wedding on a Thursday afternoon, in the South, in June, at the hottest time of day (4pm), then at least have the decency to have it indoors. No one likes sitting in the sun, in a 3-piece suit, with a 100 degree heat index. Hopefully that’s a moot point if the weather forces it indoors anyway.
SVR Road Trip to Charleston. Also, currently laying plans for my own engagement. More to follow.

good luck, don’t get too worried about the ring, something simple is good, don’t over spend. I used our engagement as a chance to get away for a few days. I had an important meeting at work and was putting some boxes and crap in my truck, drawings i needed for the clients. I was just about ready to go as my wife heads out for work, but shit her car wont start. (i had disconnected the battery) well ok shit get in my truck i’ll drive you and then get to the meeting. We get on the highway and I blew past her exit. shee starts gettin pissed, shes gunna be late. Well honey, why dont you just call in. now shes in the WTF mode. I said hey we’re gunna have a long weekend, just relax, your sick, it happens just call in, she does and her boss is like, I hope you feel better, and she says what, o, oh yea thanks and hangs up quick. She starts drillin me, wtf is goin? on where are we goin? are you taking me into the woods to kill me...? No just relax, we have some time to go so get comfy. a few hours later we stop, we get lunch stretch she gets a magazine, and we head back out. She missed all the postcards at the register, and now with the magazine missed the road signs saying Niagara Falls, this way. The boxes for work were actually a few days worth of clothes for us. I had a hotel, and since it was November and we were the only people visiting, they upgraded us to the top suite. I was going to wait for dinner to propose but I decided to do it when we got into the room so I could relax.

Great news! Heading down this path as well, approaching it (ring) with the same research fervor I do cars. If only I had more friends at the same stage or could find some decent reading material.

Outside wedding in SC in June! What, was every other wedding venue in the entire city already booked? Please tell me it is at least open bar, so you don’t die of dehydration out there.

We got marries in Dayton Ohio, in June, outside, in near triple digit temps. It had rained allllllllll day and stopped 30 mins before our wedding. It also killed the humidity and made it feel like 70 degrees. Perfect.
