I like your use of the word lava haha.

Keys that have the buttons built in are expensive to replace though, especially if they're smart keys. I know a guy that was out almost $200 for the smart key in his Taurus.

The key itself is $100. And then you have to get the chrome key that opens your doors cut. Then it also has to be programmed so the black part can actually start your car.

I just googled how much it would be to replace the switchblade key on the Jetta and sure enough it’s over $300 as well.
