The Minnesota Street Rod Association holds a yearly car show at the MN State Fairgrounds called Back to the 50’s. This year’s event is going on this weekend and ends Sunday the 21st. To give you an idea of the scale of the event, last year there were over 11,800 cars registered plus crafters, swappers, other vendors, etc. Oh, important note: all these cars are 1964 or older (no Mustang’s).
Enough words, on to the photos:

Awesome show. I’m always surprised it doesn’t get more press. If you see a lime green 50’s Ford pickup it belongs to my grandpa, he goes every year.

Nice, such an awesome mix of vehicles. As outsider I can’t say I understand why newer cars aren’t allowed but I still loving going! Makes me want to start my dream car list all over!

I think my grandfathers brother-in-law is there. Black Ford Fairlane 500 I believe is what they’d have.

I was there for eight hours at least today.

I’m sure there are plenty of reasons for not allowing newer cars, but I don’t know what they are for sure. All I really know is that it is one of my favorite events and I’m disappointed every year when I can’t go because I live a couple thousand miles away.

Well, I suppose first off its already pretty much full! But dang I’d like to see some nice Cudas giant winged beasts and some classic Mustangs!

And you still didn’t see every car I bet!

Of course not! They always coming and going. The distances some go to get their cars to this is impressive there were plates from all over the states and provinces.

Yeah! Its also a little surprising that some of the cars even made it that far (assuming that most are not trailer queens)

Well I’m not a muscle car fan at all really, to me the styling is bland and they look fat and out of shape. But to each his own! Not only that, but newer cars are much more common comparatively and can be found at many more shows, whereas a lot of the cars at “50’s” are rather rare. Last time I was there I saw multiple Auburn Boattail Speedsters, Cords, Tuckers, etc. Where else do you see stuff like that in one place? There were even original Ed Roth cars, some really nice Foose stuff, and even Riddler award winners.

I hear ya, the 30s and 40s hot rod coupes would be a blast and the older stuff (besides Concourse events) are hard to find. But I wish there was one epic show in the area that had it all! I’m greedy!

I would hope they were driven.

Ha, there was a whole lot full of vehicle trailers/auto haulers!
