My trusty camping-mobile for the weekend as usual. I always enjoy how out of place I feel driving a Miata on dirt roads. Aside from ground clearance though, it does pretty admirably in most cases. Haha I bet someone out there has put a lift kit on a Miata and some knobby tires. If a 911 can be an off road rally car, I reckon a Miata could too lol.
Yesssssss, this! Same color too!

Oh man they had to do that to an m edition?! That made me cringe (I have an m edition).
Also... While the Miata does just fine on dirt roads; rocky roads are a whole nother story.

Well yeah that’s where ground clearance would be an issue. I’d imagine that’s just a shell thrown onto a truck body or something. Probably rusted out body with a million miles and they just said fuck it, let’s attach it to this pickup frame we have laying around for the lulz.

Yeah you're probably right... Then it would be understandable!

Yeah, thats inportant. Im also looking to get the wagon back in the next couple days too before I do much more running around, the SL has gotten nearly 6k miles in about two months, its cranky and needs some work itself.

Haha that’s crazy mileage for that car. Im hoping you have gotten to have the top down though at least?

Stuck with the hard top still. It sucks. I have no place to put it at the moment. I should soon though.

Haha just in time for the regular 90+ degree weather to roll in and make you use the AC anyways. Ive even been driving in the rain with the top down at this point lol.

Its been bad. My commute sticks me in really bad traffic too, thermometer crawls up to 97+ and I roast away. I turn the AC on and off so the motor can keep cool with the electric fans running. Its a delicate balance.

Car shouldn’t overheat with the AC going the whole time though. Although I guess a v12 doesn’t like sitting in traffic with no airflow too much. You could always rig up both fans to run all the time. That would certainly help keep the motor cool!

The car gets real hot sitting in traffic, when I turn off the AC, the temp drops just a noticeable enough amount to make me feel better. But there’s a trick on the AC controls to turn the electric fans on manually, so I do that.
Light driving around town is totally fine, country driving where I’m moving consistently is totally fine, but when I go from highway to bumper to bumper traffic, it heats up real quick, and stays hot. AMGtech gave me a few pointers, as soon as I get the wagon back, I’ll be able to dive into the SL and go through the checklist. Hopefully it starts behaving again once it’s all taken care of.

Yeah you have to drive into the city right? Which crossing you end up using?

I’m actually really lucky, I don’t actually go into the city, but I’m spitting distance from the GWB. I only go into the city as an extra hand when there’s no one else available, otherwise I’m in beautiful Fort Lee all day.

Yeah traffic into that area is still a pain for sure during rush hour. And there are not a whole lot of non-highway routes that you could take as alternatives that would be any better. NJ needs to pave over some houses to make 20 lane freeways like LA.
