The last few weeks I’ve been driving through the bug infested woods of rural Ontario so today it was time to give something back to my car. First I used some dryer sheets on the front then visited the car wash. I even dried with the little chamois that came with the car (first time!). I cleaned the front and rear windows then applied some RainX to finish the job. Did some touch up paint but that stuff never seems to hold permanently.
Also a nice red GT2 and Macan S filling up at the same gas station... I made another lap of the pumps.
Since my car was CPO, I often notice things about the finish and surface that very likely came from the previous owner. One is the driver side window tint has many little holes in the film that I can’t figure out where they’re from (dog on lap, maybe?) and the passenger film seems to be ripping near the top, with a number of scratches. I can’t really do much about it but whenever I do notice it it becomes annoying.
It’s likely hard to see but I also noticed the rear hatch has a lot of these tiny yellow-orange marks that don’t seem to come off with finger pressure. Not sure where the discolouration might have come from.

Do you live near an oil refinery? (that would explain the yellow-orange spots)

The yellow-orange spots will come off with a clay bay.

Hmm, thanks for the tip! I have a bar in the closet, I’ll try that later

yay CPO VW issues! I got my own. the rear bumper has a host of scratches. the paint has weird marks, and the seat leatherette is not that good.
But hey! it rocks!

To be fair I think my problems are more related to the previous owner but there were a few other issues I had sorted through warranty shortly after I picked it up. Like you say, though, once you get in it, it’s great.

mine are PO-related as well, as the guy seems to have never waxed it (something I need to do baaaaddd) and the rip is in the driver’s bolster.
I had a few mechanical niggles that I had sorted out through the warranty
