Which would you rather?

So we’ve decided to include two more cars in our search. They are a size smaller than the other stuff we’ve been looking at, but they should still be big enough for our needs. The are the 2011+ BMW X3 XDrive35i and the 2010+ Audi Allroad. I’m sure I know which way the vote will swing here on Oppo, because one of these cars is a wagon (cheering) and the other is a crossover (jeering), but the BMW is much faster an more powerful, so there’s that.

With the size being a slight downside, these cars are newer, more efficient, faster (the X3 at least) more fun, and better equipped than the larger vehicles we are looking at. Small, as it turns out, could be the answer.

They are pretty equal in most ways, but you’re right. The only difference is the Audi is slow and awesome while the BMW is fast and boring.

My sister and her boyfriend have the Euro spec 35d and live it. Can’t say how that translates to the 350 though.

For some reason that and the Q5 do zilch for me. The Q5 if too boring and my experience with the ML has been that they are cheaply made, not terribly sporty, and I find them ugly. We looked at an XC60 and an Evoque, but both had little to no rear room.

If we got the Allroad, it would be our sixth. But this is a which would you rather, not a which would I rather, so this answer shall stand.

Id do the audi. remember it has tht awesomely tuneable 2.0L 4. its more or less a chip and intake away from 300 HP.

I can bet that the X3 M-sport handles better or as well as the all road, I test drove a manual M-sport first gen X3 and it really felt like a taller 3 series. I know the new body probably doesn’t feel the same, but still. And the turbo inline six is a good engine, it’s a more reliable version of the N54, the N55 began use around 2011. Pretty mod friendly if you want more power, and they can sound very nice with the right exhaust.

The Audi looks really good, can’t go for a regular B8 wagon though? I just like those a little better than the allroads. Nice interiors on them, and at least around me, a fairly uncommon sight. Be nice to not drive the same car as every 4th person (how every BMW driver feels lol..)
