Twitter embeds, if they cannot load (Twitter is blocked at my workplace), sabotage the user bar completely, and comments on the post they are in. The Jeremy Clarkson embed was conclusive - as long as it was on page 1 the bar was broken, and now it’s on page 2, the bar breaks on page 2 instead.

Yup, been dealing with it for a few months now. It happens on posts as well. If the post contains a twitter, comments don’t load.

Nice work, I’ve been wondering what caused that.

And thanks for continuing the usage of my Kinja Bot gif.

The last time I tried to embed a tweet, Kinja embedded it six times in a row, and I couldn’t get rid of any of them without getting rid of them all.

Hey there. As much as I like that Kinja’d gif (maybe top 5 Kinja’d gifs of all time) this really needs some visual aids to help illustrate the issue. Could you include a gif or image of the problem? What method does your workplace use to block out Twitter embeds? Which browser are you using, and does the issue persist in other browsers?

Hey, Ernie. To answer the first question, this is what it looks like - user menu just gone:

For the in-post problem, it looks like this:

Kinja'd!!!

To answer the second question, the blocking in place here is OpenDNS-based DNS filtering.

To answer the third, this is in Firefox. I just checked Chrome and IE, neither of which I stay logged in on, and the instant I go to the page with the “bad post” on it, the “log in/sign up” button disappears there as well.

Thanks - so if a Tweet is exposed on the front page you lose a bunch of the interactive elements there, as well as in permalinks?

If a Tweet is exposed on the front page, all the interactive elements having to do with login or user go on vacation regardless whether I’m logged in, and some portions of the Tweet as well (the embed should show a link to Clarkson’s Twitter as well as just the text). If a Tweet is in the body of a post, comments also do not load when that post is viewed singly.
