Don’t ask me why, but I LOVE ‘89-’92 Ford Rangers. Not a huge fan of the ‘83-’88 Rangers, and I could give a shit less about any Rangers ‘93 and on, but I’m a sucker for any in that little time frame. I park by this Ranger every time I go to guitar, but I’ve never been able to take a picture of it. I finally could tonight.

I don’t know why, but I fucking love this truck. Its just perfect. 11/10 would drive.

My cousin had one with the 2.3 and a 5-speed. When he got it, it had 200k miles on it and one door ding. It looked perfect. So he beat the shit out of it over the course of three years. Crashed it twice, shot it, jumped it, ran it 50k miles without an oil change, and it is currently at over 400k miles with it’s current owner still kicking along.

If someone forces you to own a Ranger, that’s the one to own. Minus the rust, of course...

The ‘93-97 models are the worst-driving motor vehicle ever produced in the United States. Mis-geared, every one and a miserable excuse for a throttle body so that it lurches and hiccups when you drive a manual shift. Just a loathesome piece of crap.

When I was a park aide many moons ago, my work vehicle was a ‘92 with the 5-speed and the 2.3. The only park vehicle with a stick! That thing was outstanding. It was also a retired Ranger car, so it had blue lights in the grille and a megaphone still wired up.

My buddy’s ‘96 3.0 autotragic made it to 260k on the original transmission. Possibly the only success story of that particular combination.

His was the light blue color, and I’m not kidding when I say it looked brand new. There was not a stain or tear to be found in the interior.

Yeah, it was a super fun little truck.

Yeah mine was pretty well built as well. Cloth seats and the dash didn’t have a terribly chintzy plastic feel. Clutch was like butter too. Almost drove itself. That truck was my gateway pickup. I will never not own a pickup ever. Thank you Ford.

Yeah, I gotcha. I honestly don’t even mind the rust lol.

Kinda figured that one. A buddy of mine has a ‘95 (?), can confirm that it is truly loathsome.

For all I know, those awful trucks may be the most dependable vehicle on the road. My complaint is that they are abjectly miserable to drive .

Bloody awful. My wife had a company truck, a ‘92 with the bigger cab, automatic, 4WD, A/C, et cetera. It was actually quite nice to drive. No complaints at all.

Oh man, same here. I love first gen S10s/Sonomas. They’re incredibly hard to come across in Michigan, though.

Yeah, most of them here have been eaten away by rust, so the ones that are left are usually plow trucks on the brink of death. The Rangers are the same way, but they tend to be easier to find.
