Ignoring maintenance costs, racing slicks on the street, and other realistic shenanigans, what race car would you DD if you could?
I am thinking Group B Quattro:
AWD, and adjustable ride height, to conquer any weather.
Two seats, just enough Mrs. blacktruck and I, even though she would be a worse co-driver than Samir.
Just enough cargo room for groceries and other mundane things.
I think the roof to spoiler height ratio would make home depot lumber runs no problem at all.
Or Pro-Stock or Pro-Mod drag car:
I remember watching NHRA drag racing on TV many years ago and, they were saying Warren Johnson (6 time Pro-Stock Champion, for non-drag racing fans) would drive his race cars to the local McDonald’s for morning coffee. It sounded like the best idea ever to 12 or 13 year old me.
Feel free to ignore any attempts at practicality, if you want to DD a six-wheeled Tyrell who am I to judge?

I haven’t really liked Mercedeses since like the early 90s, but there’s something about those DTM cars that really does it for me.

Older Caddy CTS-V in the Pirelli Series. This was the meanest and loudest car on the track. Faster than the exotics and you could always tell where it was on the track. It sounded like it wanted to eat any cars around it.

...except it only came with a 5-speed stick and driving in city traffic with a stick sucks. (turns in Opponaut card)

I always dreamed of driving a LMP car on city streets so why not drive my favorite one.
Being a bit more realistic but keeping up with the LeMans theme I would love to daily the ‘97 Saleen LeMans RRR Mustang.

That paint scheme on the old Wood Brothers cars is awesome. Now that, I think about it an old school NASCAR car would be perfect, they were pretty close to factory.

It’s a Reliant Kitten saloon (sedan, to you lot). The picture maybe doesn’t make clear quite how tiny it is.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I tried to find some pics of a regular one which actually show the dinkiness. Looking at these pics, I don’t believe those Wiki dimensions. There’s no way that thing’s 5” short of six feet tall. Not unless that copper’s Wilt Chamberlain, and the suited guy is Andre the Giant.

Everyone saying modern LM cars and stuff really doesn’t get how horrible modern racecars are on the street. They have button-like clutches that have two settings: burnout, and stall. They also have absolutely microscopic ground clearance and long overhangs. You’d really have to go with something old to have something streetable.
With that in mind, I’ll go for a delightfully vintage C1 Corvette Le Mans car. These had full interiors but were still sturdy enough for race duty.
