Hit this little bit of a milestone on my way to work this morning. Of course, the check engine light is on from the other week, most likely either from my gas cap not being tightened all the way or my purge control solenoid valve is going. Haven’t had a chance to reset the code and look furhter in to it. Hopefully I get many, many more miles out of this car.

Argh! It needs to be done very very soon. I got this car around 135k miles and don’t exactly know when the last time it was changed was. It’s slightly terrifying.

This comment got me panicked haha. But models before 2000 it definitely would be near 3rd, but after it would be 2.

My impreza kept throwing a CEL at about 105k then I changed the cat’s and it went away until I was able to sell it. It was a bolt on aftermarket catlitic converter for about $350 fit was kinda lousy but it worked and didn’t leak.

I actually have no Catalytic converters in this car. I think it might be something with the purge solenoid since there have been a few times that it doesn’t purge when it should

Nice!, has is been reliable? I’m thinking about buying a 2.5rs of around the same year.

Insanely reliable, I don’t drive it around like a grandmother but I’m not launching all over the place. Biggest thing on it is just checking fluids and changing them when needed. I’ve seen so much about headgaskets and turbos and transmissions going but I have had no issues. Most of the things that fail are vacuum lines coming loose. It’s getting up there in miles so some of the bushings are getting bad and other things like tie rod ends will need a closer look soon. Almost everything has been something I can fix within a day. Only thing that took a while to diagnose and change, due to waiting on shipping, was the steering u-joint seized up a little bit ago.

Very nice! I’m at 126k on my ‘07 WRX sedan (had since brand new).
Have you checked to see what code is throwing the CEL?

Evap emission. Can't remember the number but I'm checking it out this weekend.

Without doing any digging (and my memory could be failing me), I’ve had an evap code before that ended up being one of the O2 sensors. Either way, at least it isn’t anything serious.
