For me, that’s David Frieburger and Mike Finnegan from Roadkill. After meeting them, I can confirm that they are the two coolest guys walking the planet.
It was so cool to meet them at the Stop in St Louis.
The leg today was from Champaign, IL to Madison, IL (St. Louis). It started off a little wet from the massive storms Sunday night, but eventually dried out into a wonderful, perfect day for cruising. The route was fun, mostly using Illionois 4, which is one of the few remaining parts of Route 66 left, and went through a number of small towns. Eventually we got to I-55, where we got on for 40 miles to get to Gateway motorsports park.
Getting into Gateway was the usual Power Tour traffic jam, and the layout was very unusual. Most of the cars parked in the infield for the show, and then vendors were parked next to the drag strip. We got there a little late, and spent about 15 minutes cleaning the cars up to look presentable (we washed them on the way). We missed the burnout contest :( It was very hot from the asphalt and sunscreen was an absolute must. Here’s some photos of the venue:
Rain that looked like it was going to hit us, but vaporized on the way there.
Activities on stage is all the sam kinda stuff, giveaways and trivia, lots of hints, etc. They try, but sometimes a little too hard. Being a Ford guy, all the Chevrolet performance stuff is worthless to me.
And now for the gratuitous photos of the day!
The line to get into Gateway
The draguar’s blower is HUGE
More action Tomorrow as we head to Memphis!

So my take from Power Tour. LS swap all the things.
That and I better get the A/C working.

It was literally LS city in Madison. I stopped taking pictures of nice cars just because they had an LS swap. The worst offenders were the ones with “LS-X” badges.

I did too!

You were parked in the same back lot, right? I saw your car from a distance but when I got over there finally, I didn’t see it.

I don’t get the LS-X badge. I’m sticking with an old school carbed 350 right now. It used to be SBC swap everything now its LS swap everything. Whats next ecoboost swap? (please no). Also still sad the car isn’t ready yet. 2017 I’m coming for you.

No, we ended up taking my car, and we were in the front. Travis did get his Monte shirt signed by the Roadkill guys, and Freiberger also told me he liked my hair :)

I'll be going to that track this weekend for nascar truck race. Kind of pissed I missed events like this. I am happy to see this as a few years ago the track was all closed down and uncertain of the future.

No, Finnegan liked your hair. Freibuger said my Monte sounds fun.

I missed yamahog’s car, but there were so many that I just started to tune out. Glad you got to see mine! Sorry I missed some Oppos!

Yeah, it’s pretty meh to me now, I think LS swaps are just unoriginal and kinda lazy. On the A/C note: neither of our cars have it, we were fine until today in Memphis, felt like I was turning into a potato chip.

No, even better.

Yeah! First one of those Fords I have seen where someone put some damn good effort and fabrication into making that 4.6 fit. Glad he did that over your typical SBC.

Yeah, that thing is amazing, I have a friend in Texas who is building a Race Jeep XJ and he got all excited when I sent him this.

Yeah, the track definitely looked like it had been updated recently, the kart track they put in looked really nice and big.

Race Jeep like offroad racing or track? Either way, awesome. I love my beater 95, and my friend has an 01 that is a beast. You can do anything with them.

I know.... by the time I got to the lot where your car was we had been there for three hours and everyone was hot and tired. Plus your lot’s port-a-pottys didn’t have any hand washing materials ewwwww...

I always thought these would be fun with a high revving turbo 4.

Same here. My integra had it, but it was removed 3 minutes after I bought it.
