Have a White 706 bus, one of a batch produced specially for use in US national parks. Some of them have been preserved albeit with modifications to make them usable in current conditions .
White were ultimately bought by Volvo.

I didn’t know that White was bought out by Volvo.

Yes, and they acquired Mack when they bought Renault’s truck division.
They use these companies to make special North American Volvo trucks which are different to those sold in the rest of the world.

This is similar to the White I learned to drive an 18 wheeler in. No power steering! Hendrickson suspension. No A/C. Drafty and with a marginal heater. Radio? No.
They later built trucks for Freightliner.

Man, I am way behind on my truck company ownership knowledge. I knew Renault owned Mack, but not that Volvo had bought it all.
