Yeah haha if it was the 2.0T it would be another story. I think that motor is 50 years old at this point.

A 335i is a pretty even match with the S4. Power is similar. Main difference is handling - it just depends on whether you prefer to understeer into the tree and hit if head first or oversteer and hit it with your ass.

With how widely used that engine is, is the 2.0t pretty reliable by now?

335i vs S4 is always a good topic. I LOL’d at the understeer vs oversteer. I'll put it like this, if I want RWD I'll go for the 335i. If I want AWD I go S4. Both can be tuned to high power levels which is great for owners of both.

I would hope so! VAG uses it in EVERYTHING and like you said it’s been out for a long time. I would think that it’s gotta be one of the more reliable turbo charged engines out there. It’s not super exciting or powerful so it better be reliable. I think the 2L turbo in the AMG version of the droopy ass car is the most powerful 2L motor out there right now. All German cars should have a motor like this as the base motor, haha

Haha yeah it’s too hard not to make understeer jokes about Audi.

There is one other variable to add to your list: interior space. If cross shopping an E9X 335i vs the current S4 I think the S4 would have more rear leg and head room

I’ll be honest, I’m kind of sad BMW’s entry level engine isn’t a naturally aspirated inline 6, but they are making some good turbo engines now so it isn’t too bad.

And yes! I'll admit the E9x back seat isn't bad, but it could be better. 4 people is never a problem but 5 barely works.

Yes!! I drove an F10 528xi once as a loaner. I liked the car but it should NOT be powered by a 4 cylinder, way too small of an engine. Felt labored combined with the x-drive.
