The time has come for me to find a new avatar, or whatever we call the little pictures on here. Due to the fact my car has not been acting up lately, I use that very loosely seeing as my Taurus has not been treated nicely in its previous lives it seems, I have decided the sick car picture is no longer a proper choice for myself. Naturally I went to google to find something to at least point me in the right direction. Click, related images, click, related images, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, wait what was that, go in reverse. Holy shit this is a thing that exists!!!
What is that you most likely find yourself asking. Well Opponaut or random peruser of Oppositelock that there is a scale model of a 3rd generation Ford Taurus. Now you may be asking yourself “Who the hell would want a model of that?” I’ll have to say that that is a very valid question. Me, that is who. I own a third generation Ford Taurus and I’ve fallen in love with that P.O.S. and I would love to have a model of it to toy around with. I would also love something to draw my stupid plans on before trying them out. So people of Oppo, in the super highly unlikely event that you have one of these or know where want can be found for cheap(as if they’ll be anything but) leave me a comment below.

Actually, the 3rd gen Taurus was a pretty big deal when it came out because of how weird it looked, I remember people thinking it was the sleek futuristic car we’ve been waiting for.
Combine that with the fact that so many of them were sold, and someone out there wants a damn scale model because they owned one or learned to drive on one.
I’d suggest going to a Ford Taurus forum and keeping a bead on Ebay. There’s a bunch of model kits for the 1st and 2nd gen, and a bunch of 3rd gen NASCAR models. There’s plenty of hot wheels though.

It’s the first car I have bought with my own money and it’s the car that I’ve been teaching myself how to work on cars on. It’s also the car I experiment with when I want to try something new on it. It means quite a bit to me even if my coworkers mock it a lot.

Your coworkers are shit. Rule #1 man, don’t be a dick.
I’m actually surprised how hard it is to find a model/memorabilia of the 3rd gen. Maybe it’s because Ford wanted a more mature image for the Taurus than the Robocop inspired 80s laser style, or maybe model kits just as a market got a lot less popular in the 90s.

I’m thinking it’s the second case because people looked at them as nerdy or as things old men did. Or the people that did them really wanted the over the top ones.
I wonder how hard and expensive it would be to get a 3d print of one.
