I had the opportunity to fly out of San Francisco this week and geeked out on the new Airbus A380. I was reminded that Boeing still makes the nicest looking big planes around.
A380 for Emirates, headed to Dubai.
A380 in British Airways livery headed to Paris. These planes are truly a whale with wings.
Here is the Emirates jet just behind the British Airways jet with their tails crossed. These things are HUGE!
Finally the 747, which is still relevant and beautiful IMO. The 747 is actually longer than an A380 (250-feet versus 239-feet). First is the British Airways livery.
Virgin Atlantic livery, with trapeze women under the windows.
Thanks to Alaska Airlines for running their domestic flights out of the International terminal.

The plane that I find deveptively large is the 787. In the air, it looks like just another twin-jet. When I first saw one up close through the terminal windows, I was stunned by how big it is, especially the size of the engines. And yes, Airbus makes ugly airplanes. There, I said it.
If its not Boeing, I’m not going!
